***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

Was hoping to get my OTA sooner rather than later. Don't really want to go through a full wipe. Some days the N4 is fine (although battery life is generally rubbish and won't get me through a day) and other days like today, it went from 80% battery to 4% in the space of 3 hrs and I only used it for 5 mins in that time. A couple of times recently it has killed itself overnight, even though it has been plugged in.

Getting more than a bit sick of it but it has done me well for 2 years and has only recently started to play up.

Having discovered the OTA is now available over on XDA, my stock, non-rooted Nexus 4 is now booting up into Lollipop!

Had a few issues with adb not recognising the device in windows but it worked like a dream as soon as I switched to my linux install. Now to see what the next couple of days brings re. battery life and performance.

Out of interest batfink, do you use Snapchat?
That absolutely destroyed the battery on mine previously, unless I force closed when not in use.
Doesn't appear to be an issue on Lollipop, I've just left it running.

Does side-loading 5.0 wipe any data etc or is it essentially the same result as installing via OTA? I've got a Z3C on the way so I'm tempted to get 5.0 on my N4 now rather than wait for the update to arrive.

Doesn't wipe anything as I've experienced this morning, although I did a factory reset as it seemed a little slow and everything. Although I think through my own stupidity I've lost my WhatsApp archives, which is annoying.

It's nice but so far nothing life changing.

Liking the update a lot in terms of battery life and general snappyness. The new notification system seems to be great too - apart from there doesn't seem to be a way to check notifications without unlocking the phone. I am used to just hitting the lock button and seeing if I have any emails, texts or whatsapp messages or not, now I have to unlock my phone everytime, which is very annoying.
Is there a way to change this?

Not sure about battery life on 5.0 - I'm sat at 33% left, off of charge about 6:40 this morning, on 4.4.4 custom ROMs (PA or Purity) I'd have plenty left by now...

Checking stats it seems that Chrome had 40% use though, so I'm hoping its just that causing issues - now removed and disabled, and replaced with Opera.

In some ways I miss my Nexus 4, plus playing with Lollipop on my Nexus 7, I can see its a nice update...

But...

Pats Lumia 830 which is still on 72% battery (off charge since 5:30am) and I've been playing with my new toy loads!! :D

Sorry guys...

Shocking isn't it - looking at less than 12 hours on battery, with slight use! Might be back to KK for me

My Nexus 4 used to only last about 12 hours, with most notifications turned off!!

Couple of times I went to London and it died after 4 hours!!

Something hogged the battery and I don't know what!

Found a way to change it in the settings under notifications. I don't know why I didn't look before...

Where is this exactly? I'd like to be able to reply to emails/texts/tweets if possible without unlocking, much like I do with WhatsApp. I can't see anything obvious in the notifications bit in settings, wahwahwah.

For me it's the complete opposite. On 4.4.4 with moderate use my battery would down to about 10% at the end of the day. Last night when I went to put it on charge battery was sat at 50%. I've had Lollipoip intsalled for 3 days now and the increase in battery life has been fantatstic.

Seems mad doesn't it - but Lollipop is most definitely a battery hog on my N4, so I have just gone back to 4.4.4 and Purity ROM; I loved the look of Lollipop and the new notifications on the lock screen etc - but I'm sure that there's enough to be found on Xposed Framework to customise this ROM and have those things back.

I'll keep an eye on some of the forums that mention the same battery drains as I was having, just in case a culprit is found, but for me at least - it's back to 4.4.4 and the customisation and great battery life that offers me :)
