***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

AndroidPolice: Is Google going to start shipping on the 13th or open pre-orders? In other words, when will the first customers be able to hold the new Nexuses in their paws?

Google PR Rep: They'll start shipping on that date.

AndroidPolice: Alright, thanks. Do you know when the pre-orders will start then?

Google PR Rep: Right now, it's "Notify me" and on 11/13 it will switch to available for order.

Doesn't look like any thermal throttling here, and still on old firmware.

Just been into my local CPW and they said they're selling them from the 14th and will be £379 for the 16gb sim free, which is a crazy price. Play store it is then, just need to sell my old HD2 and my GS2 to fund it.

Doesn't surprise me, those prices have long been rumoured. I think what Google have done with this phone is unprecedented, usually phones have a decent mark-up which is why companies have made so much money.

Google have completely got rid of any profit when purchasing from the Play store which leaves high street dealers no room to make money unless they hike the prices up.

Hehe. Yes, there is!

It starts just after the first test at around 1:10(?)

The Nexus 4 will get 40-45fps in Egypt HD offscreen when run independently or in a v.cold environment. The iPhone 5 also starts throttling a bit later and gets a reduced score (23 fps instead of 28) Both recover for the last Egypt classic off screen test after hitting vsync for 2 mins in Egypt classic (low load on GPU)

All new/powerful phones throttle at some point with v.high loads.

Interestingly, (and I may be wrong here) wasn't the Nexus set to throttle at 60c? I checked the numbers for the GS3, and it seems to be set to throttle at 80C which would give it a lot more headroom on longer runs!

Anand or Brian on anandtech will hopefully make mobile phone throttling a feature piece for the Nexus 4 review.

Maybe S4pro can't handle 80C for example. Certainly a temperature actively cooled processors shouldn't be hitting in PCs.

i can't understand why they make orders only available on launch day. must be a reason but i can't think of why they'd do that. at least with pre-orders they can get everything ready to go

It's no different to Apple really. There isn't a great deal of difference between fulfilling a pre-order and fulfilling an order on release day anyway.

Guess I'll be waiting up into the early hours on Tuesday morning to bag myself a Nexus 4.

Definitely won't be the only one, so I'm going to sit next to my modem to make things that little bit faster :D

Goodluck to us all!
