***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

The Black's are not that bad, the status or navbar isn't grey. They look pretty black to me, they totally blend into the black frame. You got to look very carefully to notice its not 100% black. And this me coming from a S3 and GNex before that.

Viewing angles are ok for me too, if you view from the side there is a bit of a yellow tint, but not something you will encounter from daliy use.

After using the N4 for over a week, I much prefer the screen to the S3. Which I find quite grainly when going back to it.

The im-perfect blacks are noticeable to me - it's my pet hate. Most people don't care as much about how dark the blacks are but they bother me. Viewing angles are ok for an LCD but fall way below SAMOLED standards. You like the N4 screen, good for you.

Why do people care so much about viewing angles? Do you regularly view your phone from the side?

Why do you care soo much about what I care about :p

You find the screen fine, then that's all that matters.

Well it's not going to ever match the blacks and viewing angles of OLED displays. That was always to be expected.

True - reading the reviews I thought the screen would be better.

I will have to see a nexus 4 for myself to decide on the screen.

Shop conditions aren't ideal - best to use a friends one to get a proper looksee.

Not got mine yet, but I got the S3, so I went into an o2 store today to have a look at a nexus 4, and to be honest I prefered the nexus screen, the text look crisper, the colours didn't look overly saturated like they do on the S3, they look just right, obviously the blacks are not as good as the s3, as AMOLED screen do not produce black, it's just off.

Overall I prefered the screen on the Nexus and I loved how felt and looked in the hand, Can't wait to get mine.

I am just curious to see if those that got the 3-5 estimate get their phones next week or if the latter ones being fulfilled has messed with stock =p

Really would love more testing of this throttling issue as the optimus doesn't do it, hope it's not a hardware issue as gsm pointed out how hot it gets

Mine hasn't got warm at all and I've played with lots of different apps. It'll get better over time of course, but for the price of this phone I wouldn't moan too much.

whoa there - did I question the colours?

Wasn't questioning, I was just stating my overall opinion after questioning viewing angles :)

Well after less than a days use, I've decided to sell my Google bumper case.

One of the things I really like about the N4 is the curve of the screen. The bumper hinders the swiping movement of the edges cause of the raised lip. Also find it uncomfortable to hold. I hold my phone with my little finger supporting the bottom, but the bottom edges are pretty sharp and hurts my fingers. Finally it's just makes the phone too big.

I've dropped mine from my desk at least 20 or so times now and thats around 2-3 foot. No marks/dents/cracks. So it wouldn't break from ANY fall :p

Edit - Mine has got really warm a few times. After watching a 15 minute or so video or playing a game like GTA for 30 minutes.

Any chance of pics with the bumper on/off to see how it fits and the overall size - disappointed it makes the phone a lot bigger :(

If I keep it Im just gonna get a leather sleeve/pouch for it...

ps3ud0

Had my Nexus for over a week now, not missing iOS one bit. The only annoying thing is the volume/speaker position is rubbish, I rarely actually here notifications etc.

Are you selling it on here? I'd be happy to take it off your hands.

This is the reply from Google when I asked about the reasons for later orders shipping first

> Orders are shipped based on the estimate in your order confirmation email. Once an order has been processed you'll receive a second ship confirmation email with your tracking number. It may take 24 hours for the package tracking to return any information for your tracking number.
>
> If you have not received a package tracking number after the time quoted in your order confirmation email, please let us know.
>
> According to our records, your order should ship by the evening of December 19.

> Neuxs 4 backorders: Please note that the above date is based on typical shipment processing and does not apply to Nexus 4 backorders. Nexus 4 backorders are being delivered based on the order in which they were received. If you receive a shipping confirmation email, then you will be able to track your delivery.

What a crock......

lol at the benchmarks on the gsmarena review, embarrassing almost. Hopefully it is literally just a driver issue and not this dodgy throttling thing thats been thrown about because thats shocking when the optimus does so well.

Tempted to cancel and wait for the htc butterfly but then there is always something else around the corner and it will be nowhere near this pricepoint eh.

Cancel, it is clearly inferior. The numbers never lie.

Hi

Mine arrived yesterday and so far im very impressed with it, its so quick and much smoother than my HTC Sensation XE with 4.0.3 installed.

I find the screen to be very nice and actually prefer it to my mates S3 which I found to be far to saturated. Viewing angles are not a problem.

The phone has a good weight to it and feels pretty solid but I am being a bit careful with the back till my case turns up.

The stock Android is also a god send as I can't stand all the bloatware crap installed these days by other manufacturers.

Overal im very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone in the market for a new phone.

IMO it's the worst screen I've used vs. One X and SGS3. The viewing angles are what hacks me off and they are pretty awful compared to any other decent smartphones. It really bugs me, I think LG totally dropped the ball there.

I do think that there might be some variance on the screens though - some people don't seem to have issues at all.
