** The Official Mac OS X Leopard First Impressions and Review Thread **

My only problems include Quicktime crashing, indesign crashing on startup and the monkies at Apple broke Bluetooth while they had it..

Whats the best way to backup my app's when I install Leopard?
I tried SuperDuper but that crashed halfway through and won't work again for some reason :/

Documents I can backup myself, just don't want to have to install all my app's again!

Picked up a few bugs with my clean install :( when coming out of sleep, it fails to connect to my wireless network (hidden SSID & very long WPA2 password) I have to turn airport off then on again for it to connect..

Do you have iStat pro installed? When i had that running my Wireless would continuously disconnect, i would need to do what you did for it to connect again.

Unfortunately I have nothing additionally installed :( it started happening on a completely clean install.

I might do a fresh re-install and let the DVD verification complete, although as it's a free NFR disc, I doubt I'd be able to get a replacement hehe.

I might just try re entering the wireless network information see if that works

Just had a look through the Apple legal stuff and it seems to suggest that it can be installed on one computer at any one time which is good because I was going to test it on my iBook first then switch it to my MacBook.

Thanks.

A quick update, I had a chance to compare my MBP (core duo 2.16) with a 64bit core 2 version today and I was pleasantly surprised that my machine was virtually no slower in general use. Leopard looks to be pretty well optimised in my opinion and its certainly quicker than tiger on older machines in my experience.

Also, I've actually started to use spaces day to day now and i think it's worth the £85 on its own, i've always struggled with desktop space on my MBP and was considering replacing it with the 17" hi res version to work on this, spaces has been really good for my uses there, it's almost like having an bigger screen.

Spaces is legendary tbh.

Expose went a long way to solve my window management problems. Not sure if I'll use Spaces though, thats something thats going to become apparent only after prolonged use I think.

I wasnt impressed with spaces at first but now i changed my dashboard button on my mouse to spaces it gets used a lot. I use it to de-clutter my desktops.

I have work stuff on one like iWork, iTunes on one, Internet on one and have Communication apps like mail and adium on the other. Its nice!

I wish with Spaces that there was an option to choose a "default" desktop that unbound apps appear in. I have dedicated desktops for various things and I don't want random bits and bobs popping up on them.

I like the ability to drag stuff between desktops in the exposed mode... a Slight Niggle is the fact it doesnt fill my 2 screens with the exposed views, instead it scales all 4 Spaces, 8 screens onto 1 screen making things a little small.
