***The Official Manly Shaving Thread***

Has anyone tried witch hazel after a shave? Apparently you can buy it from the supermarkets.

Yes, i use it after every shave, i put it in an old aftershave splash bottle. I think i have sainsbury's witch hazel at the moment.

A splash of witch hazel, once dried a splash of aftershave, job done.

Good to hear, yes the Yellows are a bit more blunt/ safe.
You know then its not technique really if you feel you got a good shave and the skin is intact lol, the greens will give a noticeably closer shave.

Had a great shave with the greens. Think it is technique as took ages and practiced holding the razor etc Hopefully this is a turning point.

Also tried some Proraso Shea Butter and Sandalwood cream that I picked up as part of an Amazon order. I like it.

That's the stuff I've ordered. Order had been despatched but the stubble is already at the itchy stage so one last (maybe) time with the Mach 3.
I placed 2 orders so hopefully they've put it all in one......

A heads up for anyone that's looking for one, Amazon have the Edwin Jagger De89bl for just £15.14 at the moment, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to direct link, so if you want it you'll have to go look yourself.

I'm a beardy man as my daughter calls me, most people say I have my head on upside down, full trimmed beard but 0.5 on the top.

I found for any beard growers out there that using, Grapeseed Oil is fantastic for softening up the beard, at around £1 from Holland & Barrett its a lot cheaper than the "mans beard" style moisturisers. Smells nice and conditions it well.

Thought it may help the influx of "movember" creatires who grow a paedo 'tasche.

Just ordered one, although I have a Muhle R89 and Merkur 38C 1 more won't hurt eh?

Good stuff..to be honest I think every time is meant to be slow, but yea get used to it and will speed up over time. It's not like im going faster, but if im in a hurry or overly tired, I deffo notice I balls it up with the odd nick etc.

Was it this stuff?...no lie I forgot I ordered this and it arrived today and I came in to see what others thought!

Used my BlueBeards Revenge Balm tonight, v. nice and the soft smell is nice as well.

May have to keep using this as all I've used before is the mainstream stuff (Nivea, Dove etc.)

Yeah that's it. Really like it.

Just ordered some Personna blades too to give them a whirl

Right, here's my manly review....

First impressions are that I'm too manly for Derby. Either that or it was my technique. My technique is perfect though, your mum told me so.

The Pre Shave
Foo Fighters blasting out, that way any other noises that may make me jump with a blade on my throat will be drowned out.
Blackbeards Revenge Pre Shave Oil. Its oily and thick and has a skull and cross bones on the label. Smell is fairly neutral but then I'm a manly man and can only detect the smell of easy women, real ale and cooking meat.

Getting Soaped Up
Proraso Shaving Soap/Cream (I dunno). Smells okay I guess. Builds up a decent lather once you get it wet enough....fnar!

The Razor and Blade
The Bluebeards Revenge Scimitar is a bit small for my manly hands and has no textured grip. Fortunately I have a manly grip in which to hold said razor.
Derby Blades. Probably good enough if you have hair that is removed by a light breeze like a little girl but I'll be using something a bit shaper next time.

Alum Bloc
Doesn't taste like meat. So failing its edible qualities, I got it wet...fnar! and rubbed it on my manly face. Refreshing. Would use again.

Nivea Post Shave Balm
Couldn't find any nice cooling deep heat so used this.

All in, it took 4 passes but the shave is closer than my old Mach 3. The misses stroked me...fnar! and approves.

Job done, time for a beer!

3rd shave with the Edwin Jagger and I must say there isn't hardly any difference to the Muhle R89 (apart from it's not got an grip on the shaft).

For the £15 I paid for it (gone back up to £25 now) it would make an excellent starter DE razor.

Like the Muhle the Derby blades don't suit me in it, I much prefer the Derbys in the Merkur 38C I have.

Anyone use Personna Platinum blades?

Ordered some from Hong Kong and looking at them they don't have any branding on the blade at all. Does this mean I've copped some fakes?

Anyone got some from a reputable company who could take a look before I stick a dispute up on da bay.

I have some which I got in a sample pack. Not sure if this picture helps you or not but this is what mine look like.
