***The Official Manly Shaving Thread***

Real women don't.....

Proraso Pre/Post Shaving Cream (mmm..mentholly)
ToBS Sandalwood Shaving Cream (mmm...sandally...in a good way)

Arrived today so just had a shave and I have to say that both these products are excellent.
The Pre/Post shave cream was very cooling during and after. I would say it has a chalky testure and although it smells like vapo-rub, it isn't as strong. Applied neat in both cases.
The ToBS shave cream instantly turns to meringue which is great, was tempted to eat it as it looked so good.
Best shave yet.(Bluebeards Scimitar razor and Wilkinson Sword blade)

From all of experience im going with the St James creme again, its smells great and lathers the best.

Look slike they have changed a little though and have another smell, I jsut hopes I got the same as before, I ordered the Cederwood and Clarysage, it smelt divine!

Was thinking of getting the colonge as well if anyone has any experience of those?

I've always used an electric shaver myself, but last night I realised my 5 year old Braun Series 3 shaver was past it, it was pulling my face off using the beard trimmer, and a bit of foil had broken off the main bit leaving the cutter exposed which I found out after much blood!

So I have ordered the newer model of the series 3 as it was a brilliant shaver :)

Just got some perma sharps, liking them so far.

Got some new proraso (white tub) as was running low.

Think next order I need to get some splash on aftershave of some sort, I am still using generic whatever was bought for me last christmas.

M7 YSL, expensive but smells awesome!

Had an utterly crap shave tonight. A brand new Wilkinson Sword blade and I have managed to cut myself. Probably the worst since I started DE shaving around 2 months ago. :(

Guys need a quick bit of advice. Is this electric shaver - http://www.boots.com/en/Philips-AquaTouch-AT887-16-Wet-Dry-electric-shaver-with-pop-up-trimmer-Exclusive-to-Boots_1491968/ - any good, and even more-so for the price? I'm literally going up my local mall in an hour or two so will get it if it's in store as I'm getting a bit grizzly (upstairs!) (not participating in Movember this year due to skin problems which have hassled me all year). Not bought an electric shaver before, had trimmers but never shavers - if it's not recommended then I'll look for a trimmer for up to about £30 (had a Remington one for about £20 in Tesco which did really well for me, unfortunately I lost the charger *sigh*!)

Cheers in advance!

OcUK Shavers!!!! HALP!!!

Another electric shaver question folks, and this one is driving me utterly nuts.

I have a Philips HS8420 Nivea Coolskin I have had for a good few years. Last time I replaced the heads on it I sourced the replacement from Boots but that was a couple of years ago. I normally wet shave and just use the Philips occasionally but the time has come for me to replace the heads once again. I've had a look online and because this is a fairly old shaver, the heads appear to be like rocking horse poo. And the price? Gobsmacking. Replacement HS85 heads range between £75-£150. Can anyone suggest where to look for them at a slightly less bonkers price? Or is it possible to just replace the foils and blades with something compatible or from a similar model?

I'm loathe to pay around £100 for replacement heads for a 5 year old shaver. I could probably get a brand new one of some sort which would be just as good as this one, but I kinda like the old HS8420! Any advice appreciated. My Google-Fu is pretty good but perhaps someone knows of a sneaky stockist who may still have a few of these lying around? Wishful thinking maybe!?!

This thread is for manly old school wet shaving with proper double edged razor blades. Not the electric overpriced nonsense that gives an awful sore experience. After 3 years of de shaving and trying lots of razors and countless blades, creams, oils brushes etc. I have found the perfect combination. It is the merkur 37c slant with feather blades and Ingram menthol shaving cream obtained from superdrug. It's that good you can get away with one pass. I have a fog free mirror stuck to wall in the shower I would advise anyone to get one.

Ah right. Can you direct me to the thread where I can ask a question about shavers? Ta.

New shaver?

Certainly looks like the only viable alternative at this point. :)

How much would you chaps say it costs to get set up for this manly manly shaving mullarky? I'm currently having a hard time thinking of a present I want from the Mrs for Chrimbo and think this could be a cool thing to try.

There's a cost comparison on Page 1 of this thread which you could use as a rough guide.
