*** The Official Microsoft Surface Thread ***

I'd expect Windows 9 in October 2015 along with a new device.

I still think Microsoft have no idea what they're doing when it comes to their tablets.

I agree, they have got a lot wrong.

Which is a shame as the RT and pro are both fantastic. But they seem clueless how to market or price them, hold announcements months before you can buy. Miss some pretty fundamental options out, like how long till we got a 3g version.
App development has stalled.
They seem to lack direction and PR skills.
What ever happened to the mini.

It's worrying that arm chair experts touted how much they'd fall on their arse, and the reality played out as such.

To top it all off, there's still no flipping VLC for Windows RT, and there's still one video format that is completely unplayable at the moment on Windows RT :p

My brother just got an Asus T100 as his Acer W500 was stolen (Lolworthy too, who steals an Acer W500? No one with any intelligence, ignoring how they've done it in plain sight on CCTV too...........)

And based on this, I'd absolutely love a Surface 3 to use Baytrails successor.

Having had the RT, Pro, Pro 2 and now the Pro 3 I think they have made a few mistakes with the 3, if I had come straight in on a Pro 3 then fair enough but having had the other the 3 is missing a few key things.

Pen, clips to keyboard, if I'm using it as a tablet, then I'll want my pen, which is connected to my keyboard, which if I am using it as a tablet, will be in my bag, with the pen connected to it...

Screen, the screen looks really nice, until you press hard and you get the rainbow effects, not good for a premium device.

I hope the 4 has a thicker glass screen so it doesnt rainbow, I hope they also sort out the pen cliping to the device properly, theres already a magnet where the power is, it wouldnt take long to make that into something the pen could connect to properly..

Anyone elses surface do an annoying thing with the onscreen keyboard where you can't hold down a letter to access the number menu twice in the row

Anyone had issues with random pauses at startup, device doesnt respond for a good minute or so..

Got mine yesterday (i5 8gb ram 256ssd) , installed lightroom 5.6 and although it's predictably slower than my desktop Pc it's not too bad editing raw files from my d800
Photoshop seems Ok too but I've not really had much time on it

All in all I'm very happy with it and will get rid of the ipad

I installed Photoshop on my Pro, Pro 2 and Pro 3 for side by side comparison, one of the guys here is happy enough with the Pro 2 as he prefers the size..

Sorry if this is the wrong place but i have recently got a windows 8.1 tablet and i was wondering if there is a way or an app for the on screen keyboard while in desktop mode? I want it so when i click on something which requires text input the onscreen keyboard automatically opens like metro/android instead of me having to click the keyboard button in the task bar?

Docking station is out of stock :(

Already got mine, also, not that it'll make you feel any better, I have a spare behind me because the other guy that I ordered one for the Surface is out of stock.
He does however have his keyboard, dock, spare PSU, cables, mSD card and screen protector.

i5 256GB. Was tempted to get the i7, but I want to use it in a work environment and the number of people complaining that it can get louder and hotter than a first gen Xbox 360 worries me!

I reckon the i5 256Gb one will be the most popular unit tbh, still waiting for one to turn up here, I've got my i7, one of the programmer guys has his i7 however the guy that wanted the i5 is still waiting..

I'll compare the two and see how much actual difference there is, when I'm in the office I cant really hear mine and the few times I have been pushing it playing Diablo3 the music/sound from the game has covered up the sound, guess it just depends where and what you are doing when it nails the fans...
