*** The Official Microsoft Surface Thread ***

Are you ordering through the MS store?

I ask as I placed my order last night just before midnight and I just received an email that it shipped. Now that doesn't quite mean shipped as it's not logged on UPS' site yet, but it does sound like I'll be getting it in the next few days.

I just cant decide......I was all set to buy a SP3 i3, but I'm really wondering if its worth saving half the money and just getting an S2 RT.

I really own need this for basic tablet purposes.

The only things I want on my RT that I can't run..

Chrome (desktop)
Winamp lite

For me, it's games and image editing, but surface pro isn't there quite yet in graphics, or power usage. Hopefully Broadwell will get us there. So little point of buying a pro over RT and certainly not worth it for very occasional image manipulation. Not when pro is worse in a lot of areas, battery life, weight, heat. So unless it's powerful enough and you have a real reason, then Rt is a better option.

Amazingly im still on my day one original Surface RT, its still getting big updates, and still runs as fresh out of the box, weirdly I havnt really felt the urge to update this tablet yet.

As much as I use my original RT it's a little slow when web browsing and navigating pages back and forth. I really want a SP3 but can't justify the cost :( too many things I want and not enough monies!

Oh i agree it could be faster for web etc.

But i did pick up the Surface two and side by side their was nothing in it loading pages.

Would love to see what a Surface 3 would look like, but i wonder will we see one.

Just sent off my USA Surface Pro 3 today, the one with the yellow band.

Will be interesting to see how long it takes.

Support website, was self service. It just allowed me to print a UPS label.

Also still rocking my day 1 Surface RT. My headfone jack is kaput and my memory card slot is a touch sensitive but other than that it does everything perfectly well. Really as a tablet it just works very well. Most use is reading comics on daily commute and movies whenever. Screen really top notch and once you know how to quickly close apps running and keep background to a minimum then no real problems.

More rumours that there will be just two versions of windows next year. Normal and winRT/WP combined into one OS for phones & arm based tablets. That there will be no desktop at all. Which must mean that the modern apps for office must be ready for win9 release. And we won't see the arm version this month, instead preview in the new year at some point.

Had my surface rt nicked which I loved, hated at first but grew fond of it.

Replaced with an atom based tablet as didn't need more speed but some needed apps just not there.

So far so good.

While I don't want a desktop for an ARM based tablet, I won't be buying an ARM based tablet here on out. I want one, I love Surface, but MS have absolutely ruined their chance. The store's a cesspit that isn't getting any better. Unless they chuck serious money at it, then it's going to be more of the same.
