£60 HP Stream 7 Windows tablet unleashed!
Added: Tue 30 Sep 2014

The new HP Stream 7 tablet may not beat the incredibly cheap Pipo Work W4 slate on price, but at just $99 (£60), it's not far off. It could well be the best budget tablet so far!

As the name hints, it has a 7-inch display, which puts it head-to-head with the original Tesco Hudl. A larger Tesco Hudl 2 is on the way, and to compete, HP has also unleashed the 8-inch $149 (£91) HP Stream 8.

I dont think we'll get any Surface news until they can get hands on the new Intel chips, I like my Pro3 but they have screwed the cooling on it, fanless is the next big thing...

So, after a month or so of use, how are people finding the Pro 3, I am loving the new screen size and find myself using my iPadMiniR less at home and picking up the SP3 more.
I used to use the MiniR for email and then if I needed to remote into a machine I'd use my main rig at home rather than the Pro2, now I use the Pro3, the extra few inches count ;)
I do still miss somewhere to actually put the pen though, you can reverse the pen and it almost sticks to the charging port well enough but not quite, as long as you are conscious of it its not that bad, still not good enough though.

One thing that they really should have sorted by now though is wifi connections when resuming/waking up, seriously guys, same issues as have been had on all Pro devices....

I've not used the Pro but on both the Surface RT and RT 2 I would often have to restart the WLAN autoconfig service to get Wifi back.

Is that the same issue?

For me, it's games and image editing, but surface pro isn't there quite yet in graphics, or power usage. Hopefully Broadwell will get us there. So little point of buying a pro over RT and certainly not worth it for very occasional image manipulation. Not when pro is worse in a lot of areas, battery life, weight, heat. So unless it's powerful enough and you have a real reason, then Rt is a better option.

The pro (3) is great for photo editing. Probably the best small decide out there for it. It's powerful enough to run all the photo editing software easily and the addition of the pen makes it a great device.

Unfortunately if you want to play high end games then you're never going to be able to get a powerful enough device in such a small form factor. See the Alienware 11 and the 14" gaming laptops for examples.

Oh no, I don't expect to play top gfx games at high settings. But I do play lower power games. That I want to play in surface. I have an old alienate 11" which I use for gaming and it's more than powerful enough.
Until' I can play games, I just can't justify the money. I have high hopes for pro4 as that should be Broadwell. Even got high hopes for next atom tablets as that's got cherry trail and will be an absolutely huge gfx performance boost. And both are better on power.

Broadwell release has been pushed back, will be officially announced at CES 2015 (Jan)now, then it usually takes manufactures a good few months to get their act together and release products, rather than end of year release date. These are the Y variant which will be the first Broadwell released, dual core designed for fanless tablets. Massively improved gfx power and significant reductions in power.

So maybe the odd timing of pro3 makes more sense now, they obviously knew Broadwell was delayed.

Please can they beat my dual core i3-2357m CPU and gt540m gfx card, which is what I game on my laptop. I belive even surface pro 2 easily beats the CPU speed. Just need the gfx and reduced power now.

Cherry trail atom also pushed back to 2015. Lower power than current atoms that all ready do well in battery test and twice the 3d gfx performance. If someone dumps that in a cheap 8" device for traveling that would be good. Can see and edit raw photos on it then.

Anyone got any sort of travel bag for the Pro 3, I'm due on a work trip end of November, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Hong Kong.
Want something that I can use as hand luggage, put the Pro 3, PSU, passport, wallet, mobile etc into....

Was a bit tight when I first got it but it's fine now...
And yes that's with the keyboard and pen in, then phone ipad mini and a usb stick in the slot.
Only thing about it that could be improved is the magnets that hold the flap down...
