*** The Official Microsoft Surface Thread ***

This S3 looks good to me. Was toying with a SP3 but i really don't need anything that powerful. Interested to see how the Xbox streaming holds up on this when W10 arrives as that is something i may use a fair bit.

Just pre-ordered the Surface 3 looking forward to it! Biggest disappointment with my Surface 2 was not being able to run windows programs (was hoping the windows marketplace thing would become more popular). So the phone is an iPhone and the tablet/laptop is a Surface 3 ideal.

Wonder if we'll get anything similar. Costco in America are bundling a free touch cover. Which brings it down to a sensible price. Still stupid charger specs though.

Ouch looks like a far better deal than surface 3

Asus t300 chi will be £669 out start of June. But unlike surface 3. Keyboard comes bundled, it's core M which is far more powerful and higher rest display @ 2,560 x 1,440 and has 128gb issd

I will be buying a surface pro 3 in the US next week, prob an i5. Is there a particularly compelling alternative before I do it? I am quite loyal to micorsoft and loved my original Pro, which was nicked by ***** scum a few weeks ago so not really looking elsewhere unless much improved if I do so.

This is a work machine, travel companion, browser and media consumer and occasional light gamer. I have a desktop and a (slightly ageing) desktop replacement laptop that I don't travel with.

The new Dell XPS 13 is a really nice machine, looks to have the same sort of build quality as Microsoft. The Surface Pro 3 is a better travel companion.

SP3 is a good upgrade from the SP, I think it is the first without compromise setup. The extra screen size and aspect ratio improvements make it much better laptop.

Typing this on the Shinkansen :D Fits the tray table well.

Rumours MS will anounce the Pro 4 soon for release late Summer - but just rumours at the moment. I can't see any other manufacturer releasing anything compelling prior to Windows 10 launch.

So i am tempted to go and spend £1400 plus 100 for the keyboard tomorrow for the
i7
512 gb
8gb ram

surface pro 3.

I think i could put it to good use with my business saving time sat infront of the pc in the evenings too as i dont use my sony tablet i just struggle with the setup / speed of it.

I had a play in currys today with a i5 surface pro and i really like the feel of it.

Any negatives on this tablet? apart from a bloody good laptop is not much more

I have an 15/128GB model.
I love it but if I was looking to buy one tomorrow, I would seriously consider a Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro instead.

Only you know how much inboard memory you need, but I went with the i5 as all the reviews pretty much couldn't see much of a real world difference in getting the i7.
Also remember you have mSD expansion, so I went with 256gb and a 128msd card.

ended up with the i7 512gb and the keypad...

gulp at the price but its decent enough for what i want it for, im hoping my business will be stronger for it being able to use excel, word and other programs such as quickbooks on the road will be excellent.

Overkill i am sure, but claim the vat back, deduct of a hefty tax bill etc so wasn't to bad.

installed steam and surprising what it will play. Not turned the pc on once all weekend.

Thanks

I bought the Pro 3. It is a nice upgrade over the original, particular in terms of screen, size and thinness. I couldn't wait for future releases as need it for work.

Happy with it

The main negative is as you say - you can get a decent laptop for less.

Just depends on your usage really. I went for an XPS13 as I wanted a laptop rather than a hybrid. Plus it was substantially cheaper.
