21 markets can pre order tomorrow morning (8am ET), and delivered 22october. So nothing like the issues last time. How many will get it on release who knows.

Will never touch acer again, ever. My sisters android tablet is nothing but trouble. My mums windows tablet is nothing but trouble, been away for repair, nothing was found wrong. :rolleyes:, went away again and nothing was wrong, explained agai, yes need a new motherboard was going to get changed, 2 weeks later hadn't heard anything told her to get dad on to it. New tablet shipped out. Same problem. Told her to get a refund from amazon, but she likes and wants a win8 tablet.

Ad Asus I've always found fast but unreliable. On the desktop side and the build qaulity as well, look at the hinges, flex on keyboard etc.

My only issue with the t100 is the 2gb of ram.. Would that be enough? Seems low to me. Wouldn't mind surface but i would prefer full windows as opposed to RT
 
Depends what you want to do, atom isnt fast its not like a modern desktop, so you aren't going to be doing massively intensive work on it.

Its very slow compared to haswell for proper computing tasks, but yes it beats the tegra 4/snapdragon 800 on cpu side. Gpu doesn't look great though, still waiting for some decent benchmarks.

And I've seen mixed reports on if you get office or just a demo pre installed. Have they clarified that yet?
 
Well, I think it was a solid enough launch. The bundled services is a good idea. Do we know if it's still the same crappy power attachment? It wasn't clear to me.
 
Thats why I was confused earlier.

Battery life on pro is 75% better (7-8.5hrs)
The new power cover has a 30wh battery and gives combined 2.5x(10-12.5hrs) life.

Who was it who siad they worked in music and might be interested in the mix cover?

Fair play to them, they've nailed a lot of the criticisms and the Surface 2 looks like a much more rounded tablet than when the RT launched. With 8.1, Office 2013, and the snappier hardware it's certainly something to consider.

Whether they sell or not is a different matter. I think it will, without a doubt, sell much better than the original. It could be a sleeper hit for enterprise.
 
We'll see, but I'd be surprised to see it sell well.

As good as it seems, and even if it is a little bit cheaper, everyone else's devices are better too.
 
Well, it's all relative of course. I'm not really fussed if it doesn't sell nearly as well as the competitors because that's not my problem.

They need Surface ultrabooks adding to the line up IMO. A MacBook Air and a MacBook Pro clone. That would be hard to screw up and would go a long way towards strengthening the Surface brand. If they want to compete at the premium end of the market they need to start turning some heads.
 
I want a viable platform that isn't iOS and Android.
I see Android/iOS get a fair chunk of games that RT doesn't.
Hell, even WP8 has a game or two (Fifa) that RT doesn't lol.

Based on the USA prices from the press release.

Surface Pro retail price
64 GB + Surface pen $899
128 GB + Surface pen $999

256 GB + Surface pen $1,299
512 GB + Surface pen $1,799


UK Price for the cheapest is £719

So we should see UK prices of

64 GB + Surface pen £719
128 GB + Surface pen £799

256 GB + Surface pen £1038
512 GB + Surface pen £1438


So around a £250 premium over the 128 for the extra ram and double the size storage.



My Surface is a secondary device, I'm going to order a new type cover and keep my existing Pro.
