***The Official MSI 5850 Twin FrozeR Thread***

Yeah the card had a stickered bag but the box was torn where the tabs are and the install cd sleeve was creased. Its also the assassins creed version (not complaining) but id thought these sold out?
I really don't want to rma.. so much hassle =(

Afterburner keeps resetting back to stock speeds (725 core/1000 memory) randomly and when I close Afterburner, anything I can do to stop this?

Saving it as a profile, run it on start up didn't help. :/ Changing the speed and hitting apply resets it too.

you got a free game you lucky bugger.... They are buzzy seems to be the norm if you read around. Depends if you can put up with it or you can DSR it for a refund..

haha, was worried it would have been used but seems to work, think I can put up with it tbf, i just have a headache so its making it much worse!
Fans are silent at 30 which seems to be enough, and its looks amazing which is one of the main reasons I went msi over the sapphire

I think you just haven't saved the overclock profile? Also, why would you want to close Afterburner? It need to be running in the background for controling the fanspeed anyway.

Nah, I don't really close Afterburner, just to test if it keeps the overclock, it didn't.

edit: messed about some more and I've finally got it to work properly and a profile that's stable, right now I'm running at 900/1200 @ 1.245v

31-32c at idle
60-65c when gaming (Crysis and Crysis 2)
73c max in Kombustor

at 45% fan speed

hey guys, just to let you know To enable unofficial overclocking in the lastest version of msi afterburner it is necessary to:

Set UnofficialOverclockingEULA field to the following text: I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it

Set UnofficialOverclockingMode to 1

do this is in the MSIAfterburner.cfg file with Notepad

Seems like you got one of the open box products, I don't think OcUK is allowed to sell these as new so you should be able to get them to fully refund you if you want to.

Assassin's Creed 2 version was one of the older ones, presumably sold out (although OcUK misinformed us of getting the last stock since there was clearly more than a couple of hundreds on the way, they were available at competitor's shortly after). This also hints to getting a DSR product.

The cards aren't in sealed boxes though, just so you know.

i got this msi r5850 and a r5430 and they dont work at all with the newest drivers on my pc??? no display at all with drives installed with both cards older drivers work fine...

This is driving me nuts- I cant save profiles in MSI Afterburner. It says saved then when I switch profiles it just stay in the default clock speeds.

NM was being an idiot- need to apply before saving

i wonder what the max possible Core clock is at stock voltage and mem around 340 mhz? (its for Bitcoin Mining, something similar to folding)

Just now i noticed that my Mem and Shader Temps went above 120°C while being under full load!!!
my other 5850 Twin Frozr Has Mem and Shaders always lower then core temp.
Could it be just a reading error or i got a real problem at hand?
I already did restart and reset all settings. Only thing i could think of is the bios update i made to the newest version (which is same to my other 5850 TF II)

i have them OCed in Crossfire.
Having my Main run at 1.2 mV @ 890 mhz core and stock mem and my second (the one with good air flow) at 1.22 mV @ 900 mhz core and stock mem too.
Since i was using them for computing. But had to stop when i noticed strange temp readings of my second card.

no, the main problem is the temp right now, its summer here but i have to let them run 24/7, so i try to get em below 80°C, thats the mainpoint of not going 1 ghz core with em ;)
