The Official Nexus S Thread

Mine received Jelly Bean OTA last night, performance does seem better although the Barclays mobile banking app is broke with it :(

Girlfriend just got her JB update OTA last night on her unlocked but non rooted Nexus S.

Performance on homescreen, drawer and opening apps is very laggy and unresponsive. Had put this down to a low battery at the time, but after charging and reboots there has been no real difference. Launcher was Apex but that has been disabled and currently back to using stock with the same issues.

Very strange. Any of you guys have any thoughts?
Is she going to have to try and do a system restore?

Ya I know, I thought it was rather strange. Especially for an OTA update.
Im assuming she will still have Jelly bean installed after a factory reset?

There must be something amiss as mine is a noticable improvement in scrolling feel etc

There has been a slight improvement after a few restarts but there is still a rather long delay when opening apps. even Phone, Contacts and SMS.

Shes feeling lazy at the moment and doesnt want to have to sort all her apps out again after the reset :P

Got this OTA last night (after a force CheckIn!).

In short, pretty disappointed.

It's definitely less responsive. Home screen scrolling is still juddery. App opening is "smoother" but only by virtue that the animations look like they have just been slowed down. The actual effect is that everything just feels less responsive.

Google Now is sort of cool I guess, but haven't used it extensively.

The new massive grey Google Search bar is horrendous.

Underwhelmed :(

Has anyone noticed any improvement on battery life? My missus is moaning about hers, but for me it was fine (I bought it in Jan - used it for 4 months then got the One X) - surely it couldn't have been nuked by now... I haven't had a chance to have a butchers at what is backgrounding etc, but she says that she can't get a day out of it, but tbf - she does use it as her mp3 player...

^ have a look at the battery stats and see what is draining the battery. Might be nothing but, some unupdated apps that are not JB friendly yet might be keeping it awake or draining more battery than they should.

I installed the OTA image when it was first put up on XDA. I did a full reset (cleared cache too) and have found Jelly Bean to be silky smooth on the UI

Ok, I'm being the guinea pig on this apparently :p

Just did a full erase and restore to the factory JRO03L image - will let you know how I get along over the next couple of weeks.

(I'm getting rid of my One X and rolling back to the GNS for a few months, until some good 4G devices land).

Hey,

Quick update, for the hundreds of you still reading this thread :p

JRO03L working very nicely. Some lagginess with lots of multi-tasking, as you'd expect from a 2-year old single core device. But generally smooth performance, and doing everything I need it to. Bad Piggies runs nicely :p

QUESTION: can anyone recommend me a good screen protector please? I had a Martin Shields on my One X, but it actually scratched fairly easily, and was definitely not worth £15!

Cheers,

Suman
