The easiest way that I can think of it to install the skydrive app and keep them there if you have enough space.
Otherwise, perhaps xbox smartglass will be able to help? (I think that can stream things from an xbox which can stream things from a windows pc, but I haven't tried this.)
It does sound like there should be a better way though.

I bought the app, downloaded the free .exe on my Windows 8, which runs in the background, shares films including .mkv straight to my phone. If you have a NAS, it's got a separate file to install in your NAS.
It's pretty good once you get everything setup, even tag and 'IMDB' your movie file to the right DVD covers and all.
And the phone has locked up again
All I did was get it home and start installing all my apps - cant even go back and uninstall them as the touchscreen is not working to do anything
I'm wondering if it's a specific app or combination of apps that's playing up?
I'm assuming the phone works find out of box, and when it was returned, but when you start installin apps, it locks up?
Get Plex, there's a free trial for it.
Was thinking the same, we know some apps are not playing well on all WP8 devices right now, so if he could factory reset and maybe just run it for a few days as it is?
Yes, or at least that was my first thought. I tried a different tack this morning and still have issues
Just to be clear
HW reset (power and volume down)
OS reset (Power, hold volume down till ! then Vup, Vdown,power,Vdown)
If the phone locks up, then typically a OS reset is the only thing that stands a chance of bringing the device back and not always on the first attempt.
All hardware buttons respond, but the touchscreen doesn't work at all
Initially I restored from backup last night, OK for a while, then it locked up.
Eventually I managed to get the phone back up and I didn't restore anything, I just got as far as syncing my email before it locked up.
Nokia want me to send it back for repair, but it has been back twice now
Just for the hell of it I flashed the firmware to UK generic, performed an OS reset and the phone still has come back up with the touchscreen completely frozen, so Im thinking it can't be an app issue.
Going to keep resetting it until it comes back to life and in the meantime try to find out if I can return it for a refund, but I bought it from Germany, and Im sure they will pass it off to Nokia as their problem under the global warranty.
Mine has started doing it now yeah.
ok cool will give it a try, moving towards the future though, I have read that MS may implement VPN into future updates, shames this wasn't implemented to begin with
Sent mine back yesterday to Clove lets see what happens i think its rather bad if this is common fault i wont be to impressed if the replacement does the same thing.
This is great news, I was about to tell my friends who own Windows Phones but I just realised that all my friends with WP own Lumia's anyway.
I was only able to find the yellow version on full monty contracts @ £46 a month - I settled for black with a yellow case (needed a case anyway) as im not paying that much a month
You guys using screen protectors, do yours go full width, or just cover the display part? Mine does the latter, so the screen is protected but I can imagine the edges of the glass getting scratched..doesn't really matter that much I suppose as it's not the bit you look through but it'd be nice!
