The BBC's Cyrus Saihan has just hit us with the news that iPlayer will soon be available on Windows Phones in the UK, following a deal with Microsoft. Technically speaking, it'll be a browser-based shortcut, but it sounds like it should function much like a regular app: it'll be available from the Windows Phone Store and run on WP 7.5 and 8 handsets with its own live tile.

That just made me physically sit up and do a double take. I thought they said categorically that no iPlayer app would be written for Windows Phone (or Windows 8, which is pretty funny, given they're using the marketshare excuse...). I guess Microsoft money talks...

Good news either way, it's the only app I really miss from Android.

Well, they are only doing it because MS opened their wallet to make the app, and it sounds like it'll just be a webapp, much like Android, so no download to watch. Still, it's better to have something than nothing :)

It looks like another firmware update on due soon. :D

Winp.cn reports that the latest firmware for the Nokia Lumia 920 on Navifirm offers a new utility and feature – the ability to clean out temporary files.

The firmware 1232.5957.1308.1004, which can be loaded via the Nokia Care Suite, will allow users to manually clean out temporarily files, but will also do it automatically at timed intervals.

It is not clear if this is Microsoft or Nokia’s work, but the colourful graphic does suggest to me Nokia is once again saving Microsoft’s bacon.

Hopefully the new firmware will roll out rapidly to affected users.

Also, Instagram maybe a Nokia exclusive for a while from some rumors.

My 920 in black has just arrived from o2.

Looking good so far, however o2 have got their hands on the software :( customised splash screen, o2 lock screen, o2 apps.

But liking the smoothness of it so far, but still need to do more setup tonight lol.

Any way to tell if its network locked?

To be expected from O2 really. At least you can change the lockscreen and delete the apps, but the spash screen you're stuck with.

Yeah sorry about that :D

The lock screen and apps can go as mentioned but the splash screen is there for good. I can also confirm that it WILL be network locked.

Enjoy :)

Will look at removing the apps, splash screen isn't too bad.

Well don't have to worry about getting it unlocked for a little while, as contract not up till May/June so sure it can be unlocked by then.

But so far enjoying the phone
