I'm in p4u now and the guy is calling around all the stores, HQ and the nokia rep to find out what is going on.

Good service but not a good phone launch!

I just called the local Oxford branches, one guy said they had their delivery today but no Lumia 920, but he said there should be a delivery tomorrow, he said they will sell sim free providing stock is good.

The other phones4u said a few weeks, but I don't think he knew what he was on about!

I do have a feeling it's going to be tomorrow

It says OHNE SIM LOCK and BRANDING...

I was under the impression "OHNE" means without in German.

Edit. Here is it all translated:

WITHOUT SIM lock, WITHOUT branding, Windows Phone 8
1.5 GHz processor, 32 GB of memory
11.4 cm (4.5 inches) True HD IPS + display, 768 x 1280 pixels
8.7 megapixel Nokia Pure View camera, 1.2 megapixel front camera
WLAN 802.11 a / b / g / n, Bluetooth 3.1, UMTS, LTE, NFC

Indeed. It's the one time I use Google Chrome as you can translate pages on the fly.

I was dead set on getting this phone but the more I dog the less it becomes appealing.

Issue 1. Lack of multitasking
Issue 2. No notification centre.
Issue 3. Developers not implementing the run in background process or their apps which means they restart every time you open them rather than the state they were in the last time you used them.

The lack of notifications is bad.
At present you have a choice of 5 notifications to display on lock screen.
At present I get notifications for the following:

- missed calls
- texts
- emails
- Facebook
- FB messenger
- whatsapp
- calendar
- reminders
- eBay
- PayPal

Under win8 I will only see 5. Of whatsapp is not 1 of the 5 then waking the phone up would not tell me I have a message. I would have to unlock and then check which can get repetitive and slow! The same goes for any other app notification that is not chosen as 1 of the five.

This issue will result in me missing notifications. And I don't want to unlock my phone every few minutes to check if I've been sent something.

I know it's early and they may update the issues later but right now it's a no go for these reasons. MS should have learnt from apple and google that a notification centre is essential and a big deal!!!!
