**** The Official Note 4 thread ****

It doesn't seem to get much less random with Custom roms neither, no matter how many apps you disable, or bloat free the device is.

bit late to the party but just got a note 4 today, second hand so pretty cheap, anyway the battery is shocking, is there any safe way to downgrade back to 4.4.4? will this improve things?

Try downloading an app called package disabler, has worked very well for me. You can try it but it's £1 if you want to disable more than a few apps (which you probably will!).

There's a strong chance it will improve your battery, a swathe of people at XDA have done it. All I know is if your firmware is past a certain one you can't downgrade (BOC7 I think).

well I just ordered a second battery and external charger so will see how I get on, but after owning it for less than 24 hours doesn't look like i'll even get a days usage out of it :( otherwise I really like it, camera is brilliant too

Mine's always had dire battery life, 4.4 or 5.0.1, the best I see is 3 hours screen on time during about 14 hours off charge.

Just learned to accept it really, apart from the laggy software and the battery it's a lovely phone.

All good so far. A breeze to install and one thing I immediately noticed was I didn't have to update loads of apps after install like usual, quite a few things have been taken out. ROM offers a number of settings plus OTA updates, and for those who like it, DPI options (might actually delve into this). Despite having a chunk of bloatware removed, as a TouchWiz ROM it seems to run great, too early to tell about battery but the drain during usage seems good. Xposed works fine. The Note 4 ROM scene doesn't feel as fully fledged as the S4 scene but I think this is going to be my favourite Note 4 ROM so far.

Unrelated, I installed an app that mimics the S6/S6 Edge's double tap the home button to open the camera. Quite useful :).

turns out my unlocked note 4 is actually a Vodafone handset (but no branding?) now I know this shouldn't make any difference to the battery when using my three sim card in it but was just wondering if I would be better of flashing a btu rom and changing the csc once flashed?

Its Boc3 atm and I believe someone above said it maybe possible to flash back to 4.4.4 under a certain rom, I really like the handset, the camera is brilliant, I cannot live with the battery life in its current state and I'm not evening really using it that heavily, I've got a new battery sat at work for me to to charge and test but i'm not sure it will make that much difference.

If I update it via odin do I loose OTA? I cant seem to find an answer, I recall flashing my note 3 which was a three handset to BTU and still got ota updates so i'm a little confused

Just saw a used but very good condition (3 month since new) Note 4 go for £280 with cheap shipping on the bay. Is it just me or is that a very good price? Might have to look out for any similar listings if so

ah well I've just managed to secure the price I paid for it from a recycling place :) shortest phone ownership ever for me, I vowed after my note 3 id not get another but here I am again :)

Was going to get a Note 4 but after reading through this thread it seems plagued with problems, think I'll go for a S6

i dont think you can blame the phone itself (ie the battery) its Google that's messing up with the mobile radio active bugs etc

the Note 4 is still a very high end phone, 2nd best camera on a phone according to Dxomark, beats most of its phablet competitors for battery too

The Note 4 is still the most complete phone out imo

great screen size and quality, great battery, great camera, fingerprint scanner (not as good as S6), microsd, removable battery and stylus

and to add, this is a 11 Month old phone too.

Name me a phone out right now that can match it?

this is why I keep going back to the Note 4

did i mention this is a 11 month old piece of tech? :p

I wish I'd done this

So, apart from it being junk it's great? Yup. I agree. Lovely phone but terrible battery life and it's laggy and slow.

Pretty much...

The indivisible parts are great. The screen is lovely, camera is very impressive, physical design is nice. The processor is fast enough that I can play anything without worrying. But the overall package fails miserably. Poor software and the battery make using it horribly annoying.

Such a waste of what could have been a spectacular phone.
