Meanwhile my Note II has racked up another 2 scuffs and dents from a slip and slide event after getting out of my car!

Wait! What?! But but but.......plastic DOESN'T mark/dent! It is suppose to be super durable :eek:

According to some people here that like to keep bringing it up as an advantage compared to aluminium..........

As expected, the front looks more or less just like the GS 4. Shame there are no front speakers but that wasn't to be expected in the first place anyway, given Samsung like to keep the same design as shown throughout their entire range for the last year or two. Hopefully next year front stereo speakers will be the normal thing to do, they can be implemented in such a way so that it doesn't impact the design too much and in some cases, make the device actually look better. Main problem with the one's speaker in terms of looks is that the speaker cover area is too large.

Have also just read that the intended OIS might not come at all now due to supply issues and is expected to arrive with the gs5.

Looking forward to getting a hands on with this to see what it will be like for size & comfort in one hand!

Yes you can, just add a swipe down gesture. Obviously not with the stock launcher but still one handed usage isn't as problematic as people keep making it out to be.

The edge bezel isn't plastic though, it's some kind of alloy that does chip and dent if dropped. It's part of the skeleton that gives the Note II its rigidity.

I could have sworn that it still is "plastic"? Same as what happened with the gs 4 and its rim/sides/edge, everyone thought it was metal but it is just plastic with a different coating/finish.
 
Hmm can't find any sources but if that's the case then it's behaviour when dented and scratches resembles that of something more metallic!
 
The edges of my note 2 are plastic. Have destroyed two sets but they are easy replaced via ebay.

the original was plastic as I could snap it easy
 
my note 2 is still in mint condition since november. i use a thin case. no screen protector but there's not a scratch on it.
if the note 3 impresses il probably pick one up around november :cool:
 
I might be tempted to chop my HTC ONE in for one of these. I miss super amoled and a higher megapixel camera :(.

I quite like the idea of a 'phablet'
 
I'm thinking maybe the mrs should keep her Note 1 and I'll stick a custom ROM on it and skip the Note 3.

And instead get a new Tablet - Nexus 10 or iPad (the 5 or Mini if it has retina).

I can only make that decision when I've seen all the devices, damn that's a long wait.

It's still a damn fine phone with a beautiful screen and the ability to do everything you throw at it, my kid had no interest in swapping his for my n4 when I got my s4, I thought he might want quad core and 2gb ram but no go:cool:
 
Same here, I thought about selling the Note for the bargain Nexus 4 but the screen and it's size is too much of a downgrade for her.

If the new Note really impresses it might just be the ticket. Though I really fancy our first Apple product :o

And if we sell the Note best do it before the prices plummet, soo many untrustworthy recycle sites out there, cba with the hassle.
 
I was initially waiting for the Note 3, having missed my Note 1, but tbh I love my s4, I think its the perfect form factor and doubt I'll buy an N3 unless it's as epic as last nights footy:o:D
 
Having played around with my work colleagues note 2 I'm pretty much sold on this as my upgrade from my GS3.
Just wish Google would make some noise about the Nexus 5 as I've got a feeling they'll be doing something rather special but my shineyitis is becoming unbearable :D
