****The Official Note III Thread****

Depending on how well the watch turns out, the larger smartphones might start to make sense. The original Note was far too big for me, so the Note 3 will be laughable in my 12 year-old hands.

There's obviously a market for such devices.

Why stop at 4k, go 8k :D

1080p is hopefully the end game res on phones.

unlikely, they use it to pay off on some of the r+d on the tech to go into monitors/tellys etc

hell, if the note 4 has a 2560x1600 res 6.3" screen i am all in :D

Just having a little snigger to myself, I remember when all this HD telly stuff started coming out years back 720/1080, I remember at the time the general opinion was that 720 was fine on anything upto 37/42" over that go for 1080.

And now 1080 is deemed necessary on a 5-6" mobile!! over the old 720 note 2 :D

Yeah the leather back is pretty poor imo, they could have done a number of things that would have looked, felt and suited it better when it comes to durability i.e. a textured plastic back that isn't glossy e.g. the motorola X or a matte finish like the one x, lumia phones

Everything looks good to me except that imitation leather back cover. One does not up the premium feels by giving us leather looking plastic. i find it to be the opposite, cheap & tacky. Luckily cases and 3rd party backplates will easily fix that so not an issue really.

I hope the Note 4 is wrapped in some swanky alloy... i definitely would pay extra for it,

This is what I don't understand though - it's not a cheap phone already. Apart from the screen, where's the money going?

That's why I think I'm not going to go for it. For £600+ I want full aluminium. Hell, £600+ is Apple money, and for example the HTC is a little over £400 now (yes granted, it is a much smaller device).

I'm sure it feels more premium than the Note 2 and the videos confirm this. The faux leather texturing is to give it that notebook look and feel. The Samsung boss even said that at the unveiling so quite how people are confusing this I don't understand.

On one video a journo says the black one has a softer feel than the white one so some material differences there. Black is the colour to go for anyway.

It will no doubt sell really well. There is no other phone to compete completely with the Note devices so Samsung are at a slight advantage in this sector and they know it.
