I would say it's about lighting exact pixels...a 1080 panel can be less sharp than a 720 if text is native at a comfortable size on the 720 but zoomed on a 1080

If you display a dot (full stop) natively it will be 1 Pixel, scale it 200% it will be 4 pixels, try and scale it 150% and it trys to light 1.5x1.5 pixels and will be blurred on the edges, do you follow ?
Yes, but unless your nose is up against the screen you won't notice it.
Also your taking it to the extreme. So what happens when text on web pages/apps are all different sizes?
