****The Official Note III Thread****

The Galaxy Note 3 ships with USB 3.0, unfortunately at least in its current state it doesn't seem to get any benefit from the interface. Although the internal eMMC is capable of being read from at ~100MB/s, sustained transfers from the device over adb averaged around 30MB/s regardless of whether or not I connected the Note 3 to a USB 2.0 or 3.0 host.

mrk - ? Do you have a special Note 3? :D

Don't see it mentioned there if they enabled the USB3 option or not. Every time you connect to a USB3 port with a USB3 cable you need to enable the USB3 mode as it defaults back to USB2 mode. I think this is one of Samsung's propitiatory jobbies (as with exFAT support) whereby their drivers need to be active for it to work.

I just did a quick video, this time USB 2 vs 3 on purely the Note 3. The USB2 write is faster on the Note 3 vs Note 2 but the USB3 is just a whole lot faster still. Double the speed.

An 856MB folder full of mp3 files also took similar time to transfer^^

Ahhh I see, I'm surprised Anandtech would have overlooked that. Shame on Brian.

edit - thanks for the video - OMG. THATS SPEED!

Nope. It was announced with a premium audio chip with 24/192 output.

GSM Arena's review of audio on the Note 3:

No kidding - just compared my note 3 with my GS3 (which I always thought had a great sound chip) and to my untrained ears there definitely seems an added level of clarity. Just sort the damn camera out Samsung and you have by far the best phone on the market

Remarkable how quickly this thing boots up. Gives my SSD powered PC a good run :D

What dose everyone make of the speaker? Mine is very tinny and background noise in videos is all most as loud as the person talking. I'm unsure if it's poor or mine is faulty.

The speaker isn't as good as the Note II's speaker sadly. It's not woeful and does the job but it's pretty clear they didn't put focus on the speaker output although the headphones output is really amazing.

Mine isn't tinny but it doesn't go as deep as the note 2, it seems to be mostly mid range frequency biased.

As much as I'd love to leave it naked I can't have it getting wrecked so what cases are people going for? :)
I was just coming in here to ask the same question. I would prefer one which allows wireless charging as well, as I'm going to get a charging pad. That might limit me to Samsung's super expensive offerings, sadly :(

I'll need to get my hands on a screen protector as well (well, three of them if I want it to look good!).

I noticed that, blazing fast!

It really is a beast of a phone.

What I want to do is have the Note 3 as a desktop. Have a dock on my desk with a 1080P monitor with wireless KB and Mouse. Phone stays in portrait mode and displays on the screen in landscape. I can then do email, play games etc. on the big screen.

What network is that mrk? I have 4G on mine with EE but not been in a 4G area yet. I got 54Mbps down and 34Mbps up on my HTC One in Sheffield.

I'm on 3.

Camera is fine if you leave image stabiliser on in the main setting screen. It's not a stabiliser but enables auto low light mode when needed.

Will upload 4k video of that later.
