****The Official Note III Thread****

I had a play between this and the Z1. Got to say I like this phone a lot!

What's a good Micro sd card for this phone, as I read sandisk has problems with samsung phones?

Also is it easy to transfer contacts/messages/photos/notes from an iphone to a samsung device using a macbook?

Some Sandisk cards did have problems. This is no longer a problem unless you have an old one I guess or unlucky to get sent an old one.

SanDisk Ultra Android 64GB MicroSDXC Class 10 Bi-coloured Card with Adapter is ok?

mrk do you have the note 3 then? What do you make of it?

Agreed. I've had one for ~16months and it's been fine on the GS2 + GS3. Still in there now.

Got a Samsung card in the GS4.

Got my Note 3 this morning, lovin' it and all.

I read earlier about that camera not up to scratch and now I'm starting to think it isn't too. Hope Samsung does an update for it. Aleast it's better than my GS2 ;)

Also for the guy who couldn't get burst mode to work, I added my SD card and all of a sudden I can use burst shots. Hope that's the solution!

Yup.

I can't comment on the software side as my ROM is updating to stock based but pre-rooted and KNOX free version and I imagine a lot of the stuff in 4.3 will come to the 4.3 release on Note 2 and S3 as well but hardware wise it definitely feels a lot nicer to use and hold. It's lighter, slimmer, thinner but a tiny bit taller and the black model definitely has the nicer feeling back cover.

The screen is more legible outside and the text so far seems great. I will compare all these with the Note 2 tonight once I have restored all apps and data so the Note 3 mirrors my Note 2.

having had mine for a few days the one thing that is blowing me away it the battery life. I cannot ever see myself not getting a full day out of it unless on a 5 hour flight/ train journey. tis be amazin!

Battery seems good with mine. Have you tried setting it to power saving mode?

Edit: Noticed you meant it was good, sometimes I just don't understand where the wind blows.

Thinking of picking this up in a few days - due an upgrade from my Note 1 in November but might try and get o2 to waiver the £30 upgrade charge.

In terms of trading old mobiles in - do all online companies stand up to their price given online? If so which is the best?

Well I find this strange, if I upgrade it'll cost me £43 x 24 months on Three as I really don't really use my contract a lot so looking to downgrade. Phone is free. Total cost for the 24 months is £1032

Now, if I was a new customer I'd pay £99 for the phone, and £36 x 24 months for the same contract giving a total of £963 for the 24 months including phone cost.

£69 more expensive for a current customer. Sorry but why?

Sold my note 2 to fonebank. they gave me £225. very good and they pay same day.

now i just need to wait for a good deal on the note 3.

Wow I am blown away by the difference in internet speed both wireless and mobile network.

Note 2, top to bottom - Wireless-N (5GHz then 2.4GHz) then Mobile Network (3 HSDPA):

Note 3, top to bottom - Wireless-N (5GHz then 2.4GHz) then Mobile Network (3 HSDPA):

Both phones were left on top of the bed at the same positions for the tests. Both apps were set to the same servers. Both phones connected at WiFi speeds the same (150Mbps for the 5GHz band, half at 2.4GHz).

So not only is the mobile network radio twice as powerful as the Note 2's but the Wireless radio is also much more powerful with the 5GHz receiver end able to reach the limits inc overheads of my 120Mbps broadband.

Edit*
I also did a quick transfer (write) test to internal storages for both Note 2 and 3 with a 1.05GB MKV video file sent over Windows 7. I should add that on the Note 3 MTP now supports thumbnails for both video and images which is a huge bonus.

Note 2 (USB2): Took 43 seconds which equates to about 26MB/s
Note 3 (USB3): Took 16 seconds which equates to about 70MB/s

A definite improvement with the USB3 mode enabled in the USB connection screen.

In the mobile network speed selection screen in settings I don't see 4G/LTE shown, only 3G/HSUPA - Is this another tweak you need to do like on the S4 to enable the 4G option? 3 don't have 4G yet so this isn't a issue now but I'll want it come December.

My replacement turned up, and the screen is much more uniform!!!

One funny thing, I thought my s-pen had a slight deadzone and was a bit erratic around one area of the screen.. I was nearly packing it up for another exchange when I realised the cheap leather case I was using had a magnet which was directly behind the deadzone.. took it out the case and everything went back to normal...

which leads me on to..

What case do people recommend.. I like the sound of the sview cover that replaces the back cover to keep things slim.. are there any cheap alternatives that do the same thing?

Still no sign of mine from Three on-line upgrades despite it being listed as in stock and ready for next day delivery, its been 5 days now :/
