****The Official Note III Thread****

Would the screen blow the average Note 2 punter away, or is it not a "wow" upgrade in screen terms?

It's slightly better, certainly not a wow that I went from day my DHD to my Note 2, don't think I'm that concerned about rushing into getting one. Guy at work got one Friday and I had a play about.

That's because you need to use something for a couple of days the same way you used the old one to properly see where the differences are.

It's impossible to make a solid judgement on certain things with just a play! One of the reasons I didn't say too much after the quick play in store before.

It's true, unless your a screen buff you wouldn't care for the difference.

I really noticed a big difference with the new screen, it's extremely sharp on text which makes reading a much nicer experience, I really love this phone, the 4K video is just brilliant.

The One screen is nice and sharp but saying that it is better is a bit of a stretch.

... ok so a note 3 it is

I've had a good look at it in CFW today, Xperia Z1 looks poor in comparison, also the Z Ultra ... that's one huge ridiculous sized device, almost as big as an iPad mini

.. the screen size of that thing is bigger than my note 2 lol

Note 3 craps on the Z1. I settled for the Z1 though since I found the note 3 screen to be too large. I find the Z1 to be too large, I can't manage to text with 1 hand.

Yeah, I might hold out for the Z2 mini when then comes out. But I prefer the big screen as well. I dislike the standard keyboard, the space bar is too small and I end up pressing the . key.

I had a look at the Z ultra too but that thing is just too big! no idea how people can carry it around.
If the Lumia 1020 was running android that would probably be the only other phone i would consider.

Speedtest app users will want to try manual servers to see which ones react best for them, I was using the Bournemouth one as it's closest but turns out it was resulting in speedtests showing high pings for wifi and network, I thought it was because I was far away from the router when on wifi and indoors when on mobile network but changing it to Maidenhead resulted in:

DC-HSDPA is pretty impressive. Can't wait until LTE rolls out with 3.

I want to try out the Themer launcher on this too as that looks great.

Virgin Media 120Mb, quite nice to see that Wireless-N @ 150Mbit is capable of making use of that as well on a phone. My other Wireless-N devices can max out at around 49Mb.

There is no real advantage in terms of web browsing with that but for transferring stuff wirelessly over the LAN and backing up it's definitely a good thing.
