****The Official Note III Thread****

Got my Note 3 midweek last week - my wife told me this evening that I am spending too much time on it :p

It felt very odd going back to my iPhone 4s this eventing to get it ready to send to O2 Recycle - it looks and feels tiny now!!!

I actually laugh when I pick up the 4s now, how I ever used it in any meaningful way I don't know!!

I updated to a stock version ROM from Sam mobile the latest one on there was MJ2.

The wifi is still the same. Although I have noticed the speaker on the phone sounds a bit more punchy.

According to the phone and kies no other updates are available as now.

I thought MJ3 was the latest?

Do you guys factory reset after installing the ROM because I did?

What car holder is everyone using? want something decent but not too expensive.

Ive been using a Nokia universal holder for a while now recommended by mrk a while back. I thought the note would fit but it dont :(

what screen protectors are you guys using (if any!) ?

liked the ismooth on the note 2 but seems cant source one for the note 3 in the UK

The Wifi and network issues on this phone are insane so many people on other forums as well with the same issues.

So do you think we will finally get a solid update to fix this or should the phone just go back?

On MJ3 according to the phone, but still i cant go out of the room without it dropping connection, really odd :(

Any view on the glass and bezel?

I have the same thing - around 1mm gap on left. Not really sure if it bothers me or not but i guess it will become a bit of a dust trap

I'm using the Spigen ultra oleophobic, is very clear, and works well with the s-pen, and cleaning finger prints of is a doddle.

It did take a while until the s-pen was moving as freely as the original screen, after wiping a few finger prints off, it seems to get slicker and slicker, and now I can't tell it's on even when using the s-pen.

I've got network issues, even got my sim changed.

Might just get it exchanged.

No network issues here.. In fact it's far superior to the S3 I had previously. As for screen protectors, I settled on the Spigen ultra crystal and I'm very impressed its got to be said, I did contemplate tempered glass, but not were released at the time, not sure if they're worth it anyway?

iBolt Pro, £37 but it's a really is a nice bit of kit. It puts the phone into dock mode when you connect the charger - I use Car Home Ultra as my dock mode home screen, it makes it very usable on the go.

not much talk about cases, i know some may say its sacrilege to use one on a Note 3 but i like to keep my phones pristine come time to sell it :)

what decent cases are out for it at the moment?

not much coming up on Amazon

I'm due an upgrade and keep finding myself coming back to look at the Note 3. I'm currently using an iphone 4s so a move to a note 3 would be a huge step in terms of both functionality and size!

My big concern is really around size - I've seen a lot of people using the older note 2 as a speaker phone, but I don't think I've seen people use one as a phone held to the ear? I've had a play in the big name high street mobile shop, but the handsets are in these ultra-high security vices and so it's impossible to get a feel for both weight, comfort and potential plonker factor holding a huge handset to the ear... Said mobile phone shop was unwilling to let me play with a real device unless I signed up for a contract.

Hoping to get some feedback of how both a transition from iphone 4s to note 3 was for a real user and how comfortable the handset is to use as a phone...

Both 3 and 2 are no problem to use as a phone held to the ear. In all respects the 3 is much nicer as a phone since it's smaller and thinner and lighter. Let's also not forget the added grip levels of the battery cover so it is more secure in the hand.

It actually feels lighter than the S3 because of the deceptive size vs weight.

Coming from the GS4, the Note 3 still feels rather large.

I'm only 1 day in though.

One a side note, batterylife is superb. 4hrs screen time and 56% juice left.

+1

Though I have noticed that if I connect via the iBolt the phone doesn't charge. If you connect the charging cable directly to the phone it charges fine.

I took mine back today, and they said it wasnt normal for a phone of this caliber to have that much of a gap, they took 4 phones out of the box and 2 of them also had it, so got a nice new one with another 7 days return if i find anything else - As for the wifi signal, not tested it so far, but this one has full bars in the same room as the router where as the other had 2, so im not sure if that indicates a hardware issue or not. Still im pretty happy with it if a little annoyed it had a gap with the screen and bezel etc.

Edit - quite possibly i was being too critical of the phone to be honest, but when you spend that much, it bugs me to see something off.
