I installed it yesterday on a factory unlocked and unbranded Note 3, ive not noticed any obvious differences so far, it does feel a little snappier but it was very fast anyway.

I don't like the white icons either, it would have been much better if they had kept the battery icon green and had the other icons like wifi and mobile data in different colours as well or at least give you the option to change the colours.
 
Running nice and smooth after Kit Kat update yesterday :) Though I might have to do a reset to ensure smooth operation but no issues observed.

Too early to say but battery life appears to be better.

I took it to work... this one time.... (haha) without a case, and to avoid my idiotic colleague dropping a £2.5k UPS I put my leg out to catch it. My note is apparently very good at this as it was in my trouser pocket :(

can someone try Display Tester by gombosdev on the store for me please.


Gamma Detection - the Grey Ramp looks strange on mine has quite a green cast unless you drop the brightness down a lot - tried it on my friends Nexus 5 and his was much "whiter". Also the yellow test - funny yellow on mine - looks more like a greeny-gold

all the other colours look ok I'm guess its an "AMOLED"/Pentile thing

also with the Grey Ramp -the higher the brightness the worse it looks
 
anyone had any sleep issues after upgrading to KitKat

twice now - the phone has been "screen-off" - flashing blue LED (to say I've got an email - so not totally "dead") - yet won't wake up - nothing will wake it - even plugging in power

press and hold power and down to reset it and it finally resets/reboots

anyone else had this ? has only started to happen since installing KitKat

Try doing a factory reset + wipe cache/dalvik

Ouch ;x On the plus side you're getting it repaired so not long to go.

I'm thinking of getting the Spigen S-View Armor case when it's out, I'm scared of dropping the phone again now :(
 
This is probably more app orientated but is there anyway on Nova to have apps that are in folders within the app drawer to be 'hidden'?

For some reason whatsapp isn't showing in my notification drawer too, anyone else had this?

But this phone, miles ahead of the One X.
 
The only issue I've had on KitKat (since I finally did the OTA update last night - I'm on Vodafone, by the way) is that when I didn't look at a text straight away it kept repeating notification until I did. It's probably a setting I need to update, so not really a problem :D

Previously I had big battery issues, so that's what I watch mainly. Phone is running smoothly and is at 94% power after taking it off charge at 06h30. Not used it much though, apart from ten minutes of a PDF earlier and a little Facebook. I've got a meeting this afternoon and I'll be checking emails and other bits quite a lot - so I'm watching the battery closely.

Not happy that BBS doesn't work though!
 
What is the best website for comparing contracts for this phone? ~ 600mins and 1GB data allowance.

I am currently on Three and have been very happy with the coverage and data speeds so I am reluctant to change; however a quick search showed that there are cheaper deals on other mobile carriers which presents a dilemma, especially considering the phased roll-out of 4G.

I currently have a HTC One X and my contract expires at the beginning of next month. The Note III appeals due to extra screen size and technical specification. Are there any other phones that can compete?
 
I got 500mins, Unl Texts, Unl Data + BTWifi (which I use as my main internets) for £32.99 a month. Which to me was a bargain. Got this from carphone warehouse. Told them I phoned up and was told I could get it for that price (white lie), he looked confused for a second and then he sorted it out.
 
loving my Note 3 now - size has become a non-issue - just a pro

some notes

(1) as good (if not better) reception than my Iphone 4 (unexpected)
(2) now KitKat installed - as good if not better SQ than my Ipad4 and Iphone4
(3) super fast

only negative - not quite linear screen - some areas slightly yellower than others - and doesn't really do "whites" well - not noticeable in most situations - just on large areas of white like on email client and on web-pages white doesn't look quite right
