** The Official Nvidia GeForce 'Pascal' Thread - for general gossip and discussions **

So do the 1070/1080 now properly support ASync Compute (to a level similar to AMD)?

As time goes on and we get more DX12 games, the use of ASync Compute might increase and then the performance gap between the 900 series and 1000 series might grow (plus Nvidia only really optimising for the newer cards in drivers, although that may be less of an issue with DX12).

They said they have improved it but i don't know if they do it in hardware or software like with Maxwell. Before the launch people were saying it's similar in architecture to Maxwell which performance wise it appears to be. The leaked benchmark had a gtx980ti faster clock for clock and it makes sense if it's Maxwell shrunk with some add ins as the 1080 is a lower spec. If it had major improvements the 1080 would be faster clock for clock most likely. I am just speculating though and this might not be the case. So i think they still do async through software and again i maybe totally wrong.

Exactly what's happening. Probably not far off lol:D

Still plenty of time to sell them off yet.

No actual benches at the minute of either card. Everyone will experience it. Come next/end year with newer more powerful cards you will feel the same :).

I'm still undecided. I want to see some actual benchmarks with actual performance rather than tflops. Nvidia always stretches the truth somewhat.

1070 maxed out 1080p or stump up a lot more cash for 1080 and a 1440p gsync monitor... I'm sure plenty of others with mid tier hardware are thinking the same.

Be interested to see nvidia actually overhauling their driver interface, the nvidia control panel is slow to open and takes a few seconds to be responsive before you can even select anything, in my experience at least when you open it for the first time.

I'm happy with my two Titan-x at the minute. I'm only really playing CSGO so they're not exactly taxed either.
Titanfall 2 is the next big game on my horizon and it'll probably be a console port anyway.

There's no way on earth I'm ever buying another card with a reference cooler though. My Titans ran cool enough with them but they were proper loud.

lol at the MM

I'd be surprised if anyone gets £300 for a 980ti now

I could be tempted but I expect a sub-£300 offer would be considered "derogatory" and i'd end up with a ban from the MM, despite it being around what they're worth.

Can't believe some are pricing them over £400, that ship has passed.

They are worth what people are willing to pay. A new card will drop prices, but they will not make 980Ti worthless.

The 1080 is not THAT much faster it would seem.

Its been a long time since we have all had some genuinely exciting hardware coming our way :D

Looking forward f5ing tech sites when NDA lifts to see what's really what

Unfortunately, I think I'll be keeping my 290x for a little longer, but it will be nice to see actual progress for a change.
