Complicated - I've seen anything from 1:1 gains, 7.5-8% for every 10% increase or even as little as 4-5% for every 10% overclock depending on setup, game, etc.

5% isnt minimal, thats the typical gain, 980Ti needs about 42% clock increase for 20% performance boost , depands on settings, but yeah thats about average
 
I've generally seen good ratios - in GPU demanding stuff like everbody's gone to the rapture it is pretty much 1:1 on my 780 - I'd say 2:1 clock to performance is more like the minimum from my personal experience.

Same here, with how well the memory clocks on the 980ti as well and at 1440, ive had most games will get a higher % fps gain than the core clock % increase

A quick scan of some 980ti reviews on techpowerup shows the same

This 42% OC for 20% fps is nonsense, or someone is looking at the rated boost clock and comparing to actual overclocked boost clock. A ref 980ti does 1200 out of the box, so a 42% OC would be 1700mhz. Pull the other one its got bells on :D
 
Surprisingly a lot of people, sometimes even those with overall good knowledge of GPUs, don't understand the way GPU boost works on more recent nVidia cards - caught me out a few times as I generally assume people do understand it.

Sadly aside from Heaven benchmark I don't see much gains from VRAM overclocking on my 780 it already has more bandwidth than it can possibly use in most scenarios.

Yea it's not rocket science. If your Nvidia card is averaging 1200 core boost then that's what you take as your base. A 20% OC would be averaging 1440 boost. Basically all you should be looking at with Nvidia is stock boost and then OC boost for your OC %.
 
The 2.1ghz 1080 was overclocked to that, that is about its limits on the reference cooler.

So we will see what they really overclock to. 2.1ghz is not the stock configuration or the boost. Nvidia overclocked a random card they picked as they say. Random from a pack of cherry picked ones maybe.. who knows. Don't expect much more of an overclock from them, even the none reference will probably be about that as the cooling for the reference card is clearly overkill for a 180 tdp card as it is, that's why it hit only 67c even when overclocked.

Something of a difference of opinion.

All the people that were at that event so far are saying that was not stock but overclocked to its max stable overclock. It was basically to show off how good the cooler was with pascal and how far you could overclock with it.

Make no mention Of All the people saying all bench marks were at this "max" clock .
Makes no mention of the cooler being the limiting factor.
