** The Official Nvidia GeForce 'Pascal' Thread - for general gossip and discussions **

Here is my 7970 scores from Firestrike Extreme (testing was done nearly 2 years ago)

7970 CF

Score: 6266
Graphics Score: 6890
Physics Score: 12210
Graphics Test 1: 35.06
Graphics Test 2: 26.15
Physics Test: 28.76
Combined Test: 12.10

So according to that graph (if true), an overclocked 1080 will score more than double that score!

Quite a few people on this forum were getting 7,500. Versus 8,900 for the 1080 given their age that's not too shabby.

Where are you seeing 8900 for 1080? In those graphs it is giving 10,367 in Extreme at stock!

But yeah, I dare say 7500 was entirely possible on 7970's given my test were run at stock speeds (non Ghz editions as well)

Found that figure on the videocardz website and it was the overall score rather than just the graphics score. As you say the figure for the 7970's was for the GHz version.

I just want to put everything upto top gfx @1080p and run at 144hz\fps smooth as silk

Currently have a 780 and it'seems just not anywhere enough.

Doom works out of the box...

Wolfenstein

Fear

Loads and loads of games...

In fact the only problem I had was getting Doom 3 working which is a really old game so in essence again your spouting pap :p

Nice try. List a few old games it works with and then say I am spouting pap

If it worked with majority of games like 2160p does without faffing about, smogsy would not have it sitting in box lol. Then let's not forget YouTube and Netflix, don't see them changing to 21:9 anytime soon either.

What you can't seem to understand is not everyone likes what you like, and just because you and a handful of other say 21:9 is best, it does not make it so. As smogsy mentioned, until 21:9 becomes a real standard, will stick to 16:9 :p

So stop spouting pap and let's get back on topic ;)

Can't wait for my 1070, 980Ti performance at nearly half the price :D

Remember firestrike scores are not always linear in results. I.e a single 980Ti can score 20k. 980Ti SLI wont score 40k though. Mine push about 26.6k in SLI.

We know a stock 1080 is faster than 980 SLI. Which equates to more than 4 7970's effectively.

But yes the 7970 is still a great card and certainly holds up well for its age.

For all the people that already ebayed their 980ti or titan X and are stuck on intel 4600 or some old GPU, on the bright side, this will make the 1080 seem even better when you get it!! Currently gone from 980ti 3440x1440 to AMD 5870... running rocket league at minimum everything!! 980ti > 1080 good upgrade... 5870 > 1080 massive upgrade!!

maybe some fishing planet while you wait :)

I cannot think of one game that was not playable at 21:9, some games you need to take 1 second to click on "flawlesswidescreengaming" fix, some games you need to spend 10 minutes finding a fix for either the HUD or cutscenes, some games work perfectly no problems, overall every game works, most games with no problems, some games that have HUD at 16:9 (but overall still better than 16:9) only game I can think of that does not work at 21:9 is the forza beta, but that is microsoft store which only a few days ago supported above 60fps......

Also Max payne and witcher 3 cut scenes but again there was a fix... I admit I do not like downloading fixes, but most of the time you don't need them... or is a simple config tweak so no download needed, overall I would not want another 16:9, maybe a 32" 16:9 but nothing lower than that, big 16:9 monitors over 32" are too tall so 21:9 34" is the perfect size for a monitor, maybe 35" or 36", I have also used 24" 16:9 27" 16:9 32" 16:9, also 3440x1440 34" is the best combination of good image quality and still being able to get ok FPS.

The monitor to end all monitors I think would be OLED 35" 3440x1440 DP 1.4 200hz Gsync, maybe in 5 years that will be available.

As mentioned by others if you want to contuine this, let's move it out of this thread we derailed this enough as it is..
To end my discussion Its not that you cannot fix it as much as I love modding its the "having" to fix that's the annoyance for me. I want to mod when I want to mod not I "have" to use my monitor. And 16:9 cutscenes ruins it for me the immesive atmosphrere disappears when I see the switch same as 30fps cutscenes.

Yeh ok but there is no news about the 1080 today so I don't see the problem, however gaming on a 1080 21:9 is relevant :D

Anyway yes that is all I wanted to say about 21:9 lol (as I said the cutscenes can be annoying but usually can be fixed or are 21:9 and do not need fix)

This will be my last say on 21.9 here.

It honestly puzzles me when people say stuff like "loads of games out there have no 21.9 support" etc. etc. etc.

In my experience, as I have posted a few times before, all these games that I have played/interest in, work fine with 21.9, only a few have required fixes:

- doom 2016
- the division
- bf 3 and 4
- ori and the blind forest (I believe the definitive edition now has proper 21.9 support, the first version, I had to use flawless widescreen)
- hardline
- battlefront
- just cause 3
- metro 2033 games
- war thunder
- deadpool (flawless widescreen to fix the FOV)
- far cry 3 (flawless widescreen needed to fix the FOV)
- far cry 4
- far cry primal
- the last 3 batman games (not 100% sure on arkham asylum)
- assassins creed syndicate + unity
- fallout 4 (this required the most faff to get working via config files)
- superhot
- rocket league
- dying light
- last 2 wolfenstein games
- the witcher 3
- alien isolation
- bioshock infinite
- middle earth
- ryse son of rome
- tomb raider games
- watch dogs (required flawless widescreen)
- GTA 5
- dead rising 3 (flawless widescreen or config files)
- mirrors edge catalyst beta
- heroes of the storm (just got a patch adding it)
- mad max
- total war
- dark souls 3 now has a fix, a bit more faff required than usual for this one

EDIT:

I believe gears of wars has also got a patch to add 21.9 support?

EDIT 2:

I believe most of codemasters racing games have good native 21.9 support
I couldn't care less if people prefer 16.9 over 21.9 and even if they think it is better, fair enough, that is their preference but coming out and saying, no support etc. is just not true at all. Only 1 AAA game that I am aware of which has no support at all so far is overwatch.

With the 21.9 res.'s taking over 4k on steam survey now, I fully expect 21.9 to be even better supported in the future with regards to things like HUDs + cut scenes.

And to compare it with mGPU is down right laughable, I have lost count of the amount of people having issues with mGPU, more so crossfire users. The amount of loops that some have to jump through to get a mGPU profile working without micro-stuttering, flickering, textures missing, good scaling or some other bug is ridiculous.

EDIT:

Yes, most will have issues with the cut scenes being 16.9 and the HUD being in 16.9, yes, it is annoying but not enough of a deal breaker imo.

Out of curiosity, what games have no 21.9 support with no way of fixing them?
I dont remember saying that anywhere?

The question that was asked was, "What are the hassles of 21:9?". And if you ask me, games that dont release with native support, or have to wait for native support, or have to find workaround fixes that may or may not work great applies as a 'hassle' to me. It may not be some massive headache and it may be entirely worth it for many or most. But it's something people should be aware of at least so they can make an informed judgement/decision.

Think I just vomited some more.

Those cards are vile. I don't get why people think opened sided cases that look like laser light shows are cool.

I am quite happy with my sound proofed fractal-define-r5 monolith type case. Sound proofing is far nicer than shiny LED's. The power LED on this thing is bad enough when the lights are off. lol.

Take the power light connector out of the motherboard
