** The Official Nvidia GeForce 'Pascal' Thread - for general gossip and discussions **

In terms of 980Ti prices, 780Ti's dropped to £300 very soon brand new after the 900 series came out and the 900 series didn't even bring that much more performance over the 780Ti (unlike the 1000 series which looks like it might give a decent jump)

This is the reason for me switching from my 980ti to probably a 1070 until the 1080ti. Plus, new toy to play with and all that.

What would the benefit be of waiting for third party (EVGA etc) cards to come out if a) the cost increase of the reference(!) card doesn't bother you b) you are going to water cool them and c) OC them yourself.

Is there anything I'm missing?

Ben

Anyone?

it's 05/17 somewhere, why there isn't any bench leaks yet QQ, someone who didnt get the memo of the exact hour or miscalculated time coversion :D
come on...

So you're thinking you'll make less of a loss going for a 1070 and selling used for a 1080Ti, instead of selling a used 1080?
If the 1070 matches the 980Ti I believe that retailers will start selling off their stock of 980Ti for around the same price as the 1070 similar to what happened with the 970 + 780Ti.

Not decided yet between the 1070 and 1080 but if the 1080 is around £550 then I think it would deprecated more when the 1080ti is released.

Did you sell your card?

Yes ;)

According to the EVGA product page it's great

Right. I guess I could get one of the basic EVGA cards and step up once their custom cards are out. The step-up wouldn't be useful for anything else anyway since nothing is coming for 3 months after the 1080.

Almost certain you can't step up from the same GPU model to another, even if it's reference to better performing custom.

"Step-Up is limited to pre-approved graphics cards only and can only be used for exchange to a different and higher performing GPU."

Well that's all I needed to know, no need to wait around for reviews now.

We should all know by now this is still the small chip, when the big Titan comes along it will be "Excellent/Enthusiast" performance. All the same, it will perform better than any GPU currently until AMD offer their enthusiast cards for some competition. I'm in. We should be under no illusions now, as NVIDIA have offered this small chip at high end prices for years since the 680 then 980.

yeh but then the 1080ti will be replaced 12 months later by an 1180, equaled by 1170 and tank in value... you can look at it either way...
