** The Official Nvidia GeForce 'Pascal' Thread - for general gossip and discussions **

Right now its about as an overclockers dream card as the Fury.

AMD paid hell for that, but its ok for Jens to do it.

Disagree it manages more than a token amount on the "reference" cooler and looks like it has some potential with 3rd party/water.

Can't believe people still getting their knickers in a twist over the VR/two times performance thing - even if for sake of argument we accept it has being ambiguous in isolation - the section before very plainly stated the expected gains versus the 980 and Titan X in non-VR so it would be a bit odd to say that then contradict it afterwards.

Did he say it was an Overclocker's dream?

Jens put it on a big screen, 2.1Ghz @ 65c

The truth is 2.05Ghz @ 85c and throttles to about 1.9Ghz ... somehow TPU twisted that fact into a good thing, a good thing because "for the first time ever overclocking will depend on coolers, will done Nvidia..." really?
They weren't so kind with the Hawaii blower cooler.
nor was i BTW.

So you're saying that the fault is on people not understanding the context of the statement? I would agree with that.

Sure you could say that but go and watch that segment and see just how much he repeats this line. If he kept saying in VR in the line there would be no problem but it's 2 x Titan X and 3x the efficiency.

Their video package included the claim of 2ghz, which hasn't been the case so far for some sites reviews samples.

And before anyone goes ZOMFG, PROOF!!!!! Pic Below.

Stock for stock it is 30% - 40% faster.

Comparing it to maximum overclocked custom 980Ti's is a bit unfair at this stage in my opinion (ie comparing a reference 1080 with a single pin connector to a G1 980Ti).

It is hardly that brilliant that a custom 980Ti could possibly (if you win the silicon lottery) have its neck rung out to get a bit close to a reference 1080. Also, it will use loads more power, and it is guaranteed.

Why fury x was compared to a over clocked 980ti and because the fury x cannot over clock a lot, the 980ti pulls away now all of a sudden we cannot compare over clocking?.

That is still pretty good over the on paper boost clock and out the box actual boost though even if a bit over hyped so not quite in the same context as overclockers dream and looks like 3rd party cooling will give it some potential.

When did he guarantee every card would hit 2Ghz?

Plenty of reviewers have hit over 2-2.1gHz and then come against power and cooling problems which will be resolved by the AIB partners soon enough.

We have plenty of evidence now that the 2.0GHZ demonstrated was not a cherry picked card but a useful representation.

He didn't but their video package has that claim like its a certainty as its listed with the specs.

Again, see below
