** The Official Nvidia GeForce 'Pascal' Thread - for general gossip and discussions **

Lots of reviews have shown over 2ghz overclocks.

They have also mentioned dodgy software and special drivers.

Expect it can be pushed further in future, especially with better cooling.

Seems like a great card, possibly a tad too expensive for me but will see when I upgrade past a 1080p monitor. :)

He didn't but their video package has that claim like its a certainty as its listed with the specs.

Again, see below

that isn't a guarantee. The Guaranteed boost is 1.7GHz. There is absolutely no claim that every single card can overclock to 2.0GHz.

:) just needs the 1080 card pic there on the right of is arse then that would be perfect ...

sry too lazy to do myself too busy lubing myself up !

The problem with the price is that people will pay it, then the next big release will have a Founders Turbo 1080ti, which will have the price jacked up $150. Then when a few idiots pay for that, the next gen cards you'll get a 1180 Founders Black Turbo XXX edition and they'll jack the price up $200.

Companies would be stupid to not just ask for more money, at worst, no one buys and they drop prices back to 'normal' and people buy. The problem is customers, if you always pay what they ask, they'll keep asking for more. Customers feel like they have to buy instantly and pay whatever they are asked. No, that is stupid, the consumer has 100% of the power. Refuse to pay the price and they'll drop them.

Use your power, refuse to pay the $100 and not only will they drop the prices quicker, the next card they'll not add the $100 on in the first place because their customers already told them where to stick it. Paying now isn't just being lubed up for this one, you're actively screaming at them to jack the prices up again and again until the consumer tells them to stop.

What part of this aren't you getting? Its listed WITH the listing of the cards specs in the video as if every card is guaranteed to do it.

Go watch the video at this point if you need clarification on that https://youtu.be/it3HVZMSBfY?t=1h9m45s

If anything listing a 2ghz overclock should have been listed as a possibility in a separate section of the vid, not bunged in with the actual spec of the card.

Jensen was up on stage talking about mega overclocks and boasting 2.1ghz speeds while also making a huge deal about the temperature that was running at.

and what part of that was a lie? They can go to 2.1ghz and they can run at that temp (with the fan on full).

he dont remind me of no car salesman :o
tho he should have been dressed up as a bear with a magic wand....mebe next time ^^;

Lol chill i'm not saying otherwise, i was merely confirming what i thought was said in the press release.

I know, I was just re-iterating that What nvidia described has turned out to be absolutely true, in fact in many cases the 1080 is performing better than they indicated.

This is a big change form previous launches where NVidia/AMD would say X% faster and you knew it was more like X*0.7% faster. They have been strangely conservative with their marketing material.

I think the biggest issue here is the Hype, i mean looking at it, it's a bonkers card.... overclocking over 2Ghz is just crazy, it's much faster than a 980Ti when overclocked it seems too, but i feel people were expecting more... i'll be honest, i was, in what way i'm not sure, maybe in raw FPS numbers.

I'll get one no doubt, if only to try overclocking :)

Since when has any overclock been guaranteed?

How practical would it be to have the card running at 100% fan? Id have thrown it out the window inside of 5 minutes of that.
