This

I dont give a fluff what the inside of my case looks like...As long as its got good airflow etc...

Its under my desk where it belongs...I have never understood people who want the case taking up desktop space....Even a silent pc you can hear...

indeed just rebuilt my silent pc, but its still on the floor

db is measured on top of case
idle 9db (CPU fan spins at 200rpm) rest are off
Load without GPU is 19db, with GPU (980 ref) its 40db...

Mainly because i cant fit mine under my desk lol. I like it next to me anyway. Sat at the side so no reduction in arm space or desk space.

I can't hear it while gaming as fans dont really even spin up. I have them come up to about 30-40%. few db over complete idle. But barely audible even without headphones. Ref coolers were extremely loud.

From what I can tell HDMI 2.0b, which is what both Nvidia and AMD will support with the new gen, will only support HDR at 24fps @ 4k. HDMI 2.0a has about 80% more bandwidth and allows 60fps @ 4k, meaning HDMI is going to be relatively useless for gaming while DP port allows up to 120fps @ 4k still using HDR.

http://www.hdfever.fr/2013/11/14/tableau-comparatif-hdmi-1-4-vs-hdmi-2-0a-vs-hdmi-2-0b/ for a table of the differences. HDMI 1.4c can do HDR at 24fps @ 4k.

Gaming via HDR to a tv is going to be rubbish, gaming via HDR to a DP 1.3/1.4 screen will be where it's at. I'm wondering if the Shield has a specific HDMI 2.0a port because it is a pretty much exclusively tv device where as 99% of Pascal buyers won't game on a TV so it would be of less use there.

It really doesn't matter, the number of people buying ultra expensive HDR tvs and or PC monitors will be in the low 100s in the next year. I suspect this will once again be HDR screens arriving in that ridiculous £2000+ range for the first year till there are a few models and production ramps up.

ok DM's post confused me even more until i read the A and B differences
why they only supporting B?
why cant they just make it easy for ppl!!! grrr

reading up on the interwebs it seems yes the shield has HDMI 2.0a
so thats why they want you to go through a shield....wow...just wow :o

because its ******** as per usual - DM's link claims 2.0b only has 10gbps

http://www.hdmi.org/manufacturer/hdmi_2_0/

hdmi 2.0b is the latest and greatest version, it supports everything that a does plus adds to it, not takes away stuff

What are the key advanced features enabled by HDMI 2.0b?
•Enables transmission of High Dynamic Range (HDR) video
•Bandwidth up to 18Gbps

reading the article DM posted in French, the chart has come from sony and is specific to their VPL-VW1100ES and VPL-VW500ES projectors - its also from 2013
its not referring to HDMI 2.0a and 2.0b (which are version numbering)... its referring to HDMI 2.0 (the first one from 2013) which then had a Level A and Level B in Sony's products, e.g. Sony's first products with HDMI 2.0 only supported 4:2:0 at 4K/60hz, but that's colour compression, nothing to do with HDR, the table doesn't even mention HDR, because its from 2013 when HDMI with HDR was not even a thing

honestly, I think DM is just phoning it in these days, he's not even trying to come up with decent objections to what NVidia do, just mud flinging from any angle he can think of
