Not bad, although it's being compared to a stock 980 Ti/Titan X there. Both gain ground on the 1080 overclock vs overclock, so I imagine it'll be even more apparent here with more CUDA cores shaved off. I'd guess that a 980 Ti/Titan X at ~1500MHz will be a bit faster than a 1070 at whatever its average max overclock turns out to be. It's impressive that it's doing it at 960 levels of power consumption though.

The way Asus has the designed that 1080 strix cooler for easy removal i just love, including brackets to stiffen the pcb. Looks very good.

I liked the bit where he just pulled the cooler and the power connectors just popped undone.

When I do one it is normally a bit of a wrestling match to get the things apart.:D

Looks good to me. If the cheapest custom one's are £300-320 it will do well.

To me 1070 is the bigger progress. Bringing 980Ti performance price down by nearly half.

Will be interesting to see how well it overclocks :)

the price starts at 499€, thats £379, the 970 launched at 329€ thats £250.
130£ difference thats a lot.
the performance of the card is good but the price is crap.

the GTX 1070 price is set at $449 for the Founder’s Edition, while the regular version will cost $379.

Looks a decent bit faster than the 980ti in dx12! 10% faster in ashes and hitman

If there is a decent ~1.9ghz pre overclocked custom card for around £350 i might bite..

£379 will be the price that most of the custom AIB cards are around (or lower) with exception to the few expensive options.

Considering the GTX 970 launched around the £310-320 mark, that isn't bad, considering the huge mark up of £200-£250 from the 980 to the 1080..

^The 970 started at about £260/£270 on release. Only the very top custom cards were £300 or more.

Yeah I'm talking about cards such as the EVGA SC, ASUS Strix.

I'm guessing the 1070 will also have 'low tier' AIB cards starting at around £~310, which is still a £50 markup from the 970 compared to the 1080s £200 markup

Yeah, no. You're doing it wrong.
The MSRP of both 1070 and 1080 is $50 higher than their Maxwell counterparts. You can't compare MSRP of 1070 with inflated retail price of 1080 less than a week after launch.
I've already seen the EVGA ACX 3.0 1080 within £10 of its MSRP - it's only a matter of time before the other custom cards drop as well.

i think you might find prices go up before they go down unless there's crazy amounts of stock
...i hate talking about prices tho its boring lol

I'm comparing an estimate of the launch price of something like a 1070 SC with its 970 counterpart, and the same as the 1080.

But anyways any AIB 1070 prices are guesses so mightaswell just wait till we know for sure.

I'll be interested to see what any higher tier 1070s like the FTW can achieve even with the cards limitations

The 970 launched at $329, the 1070 is $379. The £30 price increase is really not a big deal. Dont get confused by exchange rates.

I think as I need a card very soon I will go for a 1070.. With the option to sli in a few months..

Spending 600 quid and seeing those benchies make my blood boil tbh.
