Yes, but even Ti's getting ~1450mhz which most can hit or get extremely close to are only ~100 or so points behind. That is what somewhere in region of 5%?

It is a very large price, for what is not all that large a gain in performance (in that bench).

My 980 Ti's can hit 1560/2102 or better on that bench and are no match for 1080.

Don't forget to compare graphics scores.:)

Well comparing whyscotty's 1297MHz 980 Ti there purely on graphics score, the 1080 is only 7% ahead. Stepping up to ONCB's 1432MHz 980 Ti closes the gap to 4.5%. The lowest 980 Ti graphics score of all on there is uksoldierboy's, and even then the gap is only 7.4%. It's not exactly mindblowing, is it? :p

I'm sure we'll see higher 1080 clocks once the custom models arrive, but I'd be surprised if the gap even ended up at 10% overall. Of course, it's only one benchmark.

Whilst this is all true, and I made a similar point above....

it would be interesting to determine excatly what clocks the 1080 was able to maintain for duration of bench. If fan profile was stock, then there is NO CHANCE it was running at 2Ghz for duration.

Everyone is allowed an opinion, we dont see everyone elses opinion on any one of 6 threads about 6 times every page though. Youve said your piece, everyone has read it numerous times over, maybe time to step awat from the keyboard and get some sunshine rather than drive yourself in to a depression over some GPU scores?

Yes all you have to do is not get a 1080, you do not like the 1080, that is fine, get a 1070. I read this thread because looking for reviews or info, I already know you don't like it, because I see you sig on every page of this thread complaining about it!!!

All you have to do is look at the almost hundreds of 1080 reviews, to see that the in game performance is better, 3Dmark is quite an old benchmark now and they are in the process of updating it with a DX12 benchmark.

That 1080 was probably throttling and is still the highest graphics score combined with the lowest physics score on there. 1080 seems to do worse in 3Dmark than in games.

Yes it would be nice to read the thread without easyrider repeating literally hundreds of times and on almost every page. All you have to do is not get a 1080, not tell everyone 10000x, you do not like the 1080, that is fine, get a 1070 and move along. A week ago all he was going on about was how he was so clever for selling his 980ti for under £400, and how great a decision it was to go for a 1080. Then when he hears that there are thermal throttling issues with the founders edition, and that the overclocking performance didn't match his expectations hes been spamming every thread with literally the same posts trolling people who bought the 1080.

Yes its ok to say it a few times, hell even say it 10 times, but we are running into multiples of 10 and possible 100's of times now. Really boring if you just want to look for reviews or info on the 1080..

Yes it is not good value, but it is a good card. deal with it and either get a 1070 or just get a 1080.

Not really, I have an opinion. Its a discussion forum deal with it.

You clearly have too much times on your hands:p

Having said that I'm not being that productive either!

Wait until tues when everyone gets their 1080's delivered then we will see a definitive result of how well they perform. I'm more interested in the watercooled ref results more than anything.

Just to add: http://www.3dmark.com/fs/8613682

Ref 1080 at 2.1ghz with 24477 graphics score. One of my Ti's is at 19.7k watercooled and maxed out.

Yeah I'm ineterested in what the CPU max clock is when temps and voltage are not a factor.

1080 with unknown settings (control panel settings can make a difference) beats ABSOLUTE MAXXXXX titan x, at 1580 / 8080mhz, that is insane watercooled modded fastest titan X, compared to a 1080 which has been quickly overclocked and is definitely a founders edtion. But one thing I can say is that it is definitely silly to base all your arguments off that result, especially using the overall score and not the graphics score, with a 6 core vs 8 core CPU etc.

For example easyrider I did exactly the same as you, ebayed my 980ti early, was initially annoyed about how much the 1080 is...

I thought about it... do I want another 980ti? no... do I want a 1070? no... its slower than 980ti.... Do I want a nice new 1080 which is more than expected, but clearly a good card? Yes...

So overall its not that much for an upgrade from your old card, its really not THAT bad... Also I have no idea when the 1080ti is out and how much that will be, so overall I decided get a 1080, possibly lose a bit on resle, or just keep 1080 and skip 1080ti, overall really not that bad, not as good as expected(MSRP), but same performance as expected.

I just thinking that 1070 sli maybe the real upgrade to drive my x34...

Hm well I have the same monitor, but I am scared of SLI from amount of reports I read about various problems, mostly compatability and microstuttering, so I will stick with single card, at least that is consistent in every game and no stuttering etc. I agree the 1080 is OP, but your 980ti is gone, that is your options. Also 1070 SLI is likely to be quite a lot more than 1 x 1080 if you want decent cards.
