***The Official OcUK Lego Thread***

My fav set now (behind my Arkham asylum and batman tumbler ofc ;))

Grr. I talked myself out of buying it at the weekend, and now I regret it :(

Tonight's progress. It's really well made, obviously. Super impressed with the gear system in the middle. The metallic blue colour is absolutely stunning.

The only struggle was getting that fan in place, proper PITA.

Really happy with it. You get an awful lot of Lego even for that price point.

I should build the Y wing I got for Xmas at some point.

Missus has gone away for a few weeks for work. She's left me something that I suspect is Lego if I get bored. I managed to trick her into giving away that there were actually 2. Helicarrier and Slave 1 possibly..... Question is, should I go hunting for them or wait to be told where they are?

HUNT!

Then act surprised when she tells you where they are :D

Finished mine off Sunday afternoon. It was a fun build, just need to work out where to put it now as its massive once its complete.

Its a shame to the motor and the battery pack are out of stock on the Lego site otherwise I'd have motorised it by now!

Images over 1,280 pixels wide should be placed in spoiler tags as I've done for you.

Cheers

My hunt has yielded results.
Slave 1 was hidden under the missus craft desk.
There is potentially another, not checked the loft yet. Ca you get a helicarrier through a standard loft hatch?

It looks so meh in pictures but in the flesh I thought it was awesome. Im tempted to get it for my son. Is the mount sturdy enough to be able to play from?

On the Helicarrier?

I mean it's so heavy that the mount wobbles a fair amount, you'd have to hold it steady while spinning up the rotors. Also the upper deck and tower are only really perched on, so you can open it up to see inside. You cant really run around with it I'd say.

And yeah it'll fit through a loft hatch.

Thanks, does it sit solidly off the mount? He wouldn't be picking it up and running round just using it as a staging point and moving it from a table/shelf to the floor. The one I saw in a lego store was inside a case so I couldn't really get a feel for how sturdy it was :)

I will definitely motorise it too.

I've just realised the original Helicarrier by YoSub Joo is still listed as In Review and not under the On Shelves section

https://ideas.lego.com/projects/63951

Anyone know if the release is unrelated to his design?

This is unrelated as it isn't a Lego Ideas set. The timing of it means this was well through development before the Ideas one was anywhere near 10,000 supporters.

I expect it was inspired by when the original (massive) model appeared on Ideas and Lego and Marvel decided to just plow on with developing a kit rather than waiting to see how the Ideas set did.

The weight holds it down yeah, it's not likely to fall off through play. You have to hold the mount and craft at the same time when moving it as it's not stuck on, it just rests on top of it. I'd say that yeah he could play with it but I'd definitely emphasise gentle play as although it won't slip off the stand or anything, it is an extremely heavy model and a relatively light weight stand :)

Even though it's been discontinued... My ExoSuit has shipped today!!! :D

I ordered it on 27th Feb (the day before it was discontinued)... I received the Free-bee Construction Driller thinngy (quite a nice little 'bagged' kit with an Emmet Lookie-Likee) within 4 days!, but my ExoSuit got put back to 6th then again to the 13th (apparently) but IT'S SHIPPED TODAY!!! :D :D :D

Photos to come!! :)

I wasnt going to get the 2nd Simpsons series, but some of those are great. El Barto and Willie especially. Maggie and Marge's 2 sisters are a bit of a cop-out though :/

Still not keen on the Helicarrier, if anything the "real" end-user pictures above make it look even worse to me.

I thought the same until I saw it made in the flesh (sadly behind a case) in a lego store. I think it's go so much more about it than the SSD or other kits for £275 ish.

My last Lego purchase for a while came today. Boxed and unopened bags. Surprised that a kit this new doesn't come with numbered bags!

It's my fav ship from the clone wars era, so I have forced it onto my son! :D
