***The Official OcUK Lego Thread***

I've read from the reviews that the Lepin sets tend to have a couple of parts missing / malformed. Where's the best place to get replacements? Bricklink looks good for the set specific ones, but if I need three flat 10x2 grey panels for example, is eBay the best source? I can raid a few boxes, but have very little grey stuff and the super star destroyer is pretty much all grey!

Brick link is the best place to go looking for replacement Lego bricks etc.. If bricklink hasn't got some seller listing the item you need then its extremely rare - but even then the extremely rare parts are on bricklink. The super star destroyer has a bucket load of very common parts, if I recall the only really rare parts are the L shaped Technic type stud with hole brackets that hold the engines in place, they are in yellow, and are expensive, but the black versions are common however I very much doubt you'll need those.

Mostly like you'll need a panel or something, so bricklink will be best place to go. The SSD is an amazing build, I have the Lego version which I recently got out of storage and built, its very long, so make room somewhere to store and display

I've bought a couple of Lepin sets and they've all been complete without missing any parts.

I guess the bigger sets (e.g. SSD) have a higher chance of missing parts

I've got a few Lepin sets and so far zero missing parts, the only thing I have noticed has been the newer the set the better the quality to the point where you would think the Koenigsegg set was actual Lego.

So they are improving then. The shuttle I've been building from Lepin must be an older set, as the gearing system and technic parts are not that great, really tight fit and friction comparable to Lego. Seeing as Lepin etc are now offering sets that Lego don't offer I've been considering the Koenigsegg myself.

Well I spent Christmas Day building the following sets

70613
60004
75132
70629
75182

Great sets and had great fun but took ages to build some

Realise this is the Lego thread, so let me know if this annoys anyone, but after a lifetime of being a Lego-phile, I just finished my first Lepin build (3335, copy of Lego 8674 1:8 scale Ferrari F1). I only wanted it for the wheels for an F1 MOC I'm working on (£30 for the Lepin set as opposed to £50+ for the wheels secondhand).

No missing parts, and a nice Lego-like selection of spares. There is a slight quality difference, at least in this older set, but nothing that gets in the way of the build. Some of the 2-length red axles are slightly loose and a couple of parts had minor flashing that could be removed with a fingernail, gears are OK, slightly less smooth than the real thing but a quick shot of silicon spray should cure it. The studded brick parts are indistinguishable in fit and finish- way better than MegaBlox in my experience.

As I say, I only really wanted the wheels but it's impressive enough that I might keep it assembled, which leaves me in a quandary about what to do for wheels for my MOC :) In fact on that point, all credit to the Lego designers, I wasn't really interested in this set first time around but during the build I could really appreciate some of the exquisite detail and design that's gone into this set, and how they've solved some of the problems I've faced on my MOC.

They've literally just bought out a Rally Car for technics.

It's not gonna be anything like the same level as the Porsche but might not be a bad set.

Oh that looks pretty good, I think that might be my next set. Also tempted by the Lepin Porsche at some point. It'll be nice to build again and interesting to compare the two. Plus the Lepin set has a different colour scheme.

I'm now half way through the Lepin Koenigsegg set and I'm really impressed, the actual model is very intricate and the instructions do differ a fair amount from the usual Lego style requiring you to work out how a few bits should be assembled, this has made it quite a complicated build so an enjoyable challenge.

been at my parent's over xmas with my kids and got some of my old lego out. Was rebuilding the 'black knight's castle' which was my absolute favourite as a kid but unfortunately it seems a few bits are missing. I genuinely was getting really into it and was pretty gutted when i couldn't find certain important pieces :D Even had a look on ebay to see what the set goes for now but castle lego (and lego in general!) seems horribly expensive to be honest... :(

Check Bricklink or Brickowl for the missing pieces- they can search for what you need via hundreds of international brick shops. There's a lot of competition so prices don't tend to be too ridiculous unless the part is very rare.

Just ordered myself one based on what you've said. It was only £30 even with the shipping. You can even get replacement sticker set for it on ebay, which I also just ordered. I had this set, but I lost it through no fault of my own, and to buy it now would cost me 3 x more then its worth when released by TLG back in 2007 I think. Thanks for the review.

Hello all

My son who will be seven at the end of the month has been building lego sets for a good couple of years, starting off with fairly small sets but has recently moved up to larger sets such as the fire station and police station. When he is in the mood to build he is rocketing through these sets, I'm amazed at how quickly he built the police station which he got for christmas.

This has made me think of getting a Lego technic set, something that we could build together that might be pushing the challenge element for him.

Any set suggestions?

Probably around £100 mark. I loved the look of the GT Porsche but at £250 I don't think I could justify that amount.

LEGO 42068 Technic Airport Rescue Vehicle

LEGO Technic Container Yard 42062

LEGO Technic Hovercraft 42076

All under £100 and seeing as he is 7 maybe better ones to get as they aren't too complex - good number of parts and have good play factor.

Lovely thank you. Lots to take a look at there.

Many thanks

Now for Technical challenges -

LEGO 42069 Technic Extreme Adventure

LEGO Technic Mack Truck 42078

LEGO 42055 Technic Bucket Wheel Excavator

Sadly all over £100 - expect to pay around £140 or less for these sets. But they are challenging and rewarding. And you would 100% have to help him to assemble.

Thanks, will see if we can spend a bit more.
