Just joined the drivetrain to the body frame last night for the Porche 911 and it was so satisfying pushing those red locking pins in :o.

Indeed, although real shame that all that workings basically gets hidden away.

Would be nice to have some clear pieces with some brightly coloured moving pieces so you can still see the inner workings.

Finally started rebuilding my stuff after moving. Today was Slave 1

Slave 1 - Forgot how fragile parts of this are. An interesting build but needs improvement.

Hello all

My son who will be seven at the end of the month has been building lego sets for a good couple of years, starting off with fairly small sets but has recently moved up to larger sets such as the fire station and police station. When he is in the mood to build he is rocketing through these sets, I'm amazed at how quickly he built the police station which he got for christmas.

This has made me think of getting a Lego technic set, something that we could build together that might be pushing the challenge element for him.

Any set suggestions?
My son enjoyed building the Helicarrier when he was 5, along with the Scooby Mansion, Starwars X-Wing and the Jurassic World Indominus Rex Breakout sets. He’s got the starwars Ewok village, Ninjago Fortrex and the City Prison Island & Firestation sitting in boxes waiting to build.

On my last box now for the Porche build :(. Its bigger than I thought it would be, I imagined it sitting on my desk, but theres no way its fitting :D. I'm seriously considdering buying the Lepin Porsche straight away as its been great having a little project on the go. I find it really relaxing a therapeutic.

Its a shame the wheels aren't linked to the drivetrain. I'm not sure what the point was in all that gearing if its all hidden away and theres no way to even activate it once built? I expected the wheels to be connected so when you turned them you could feel and see the gearing working.

The wheels are connected. You've either built it wrong or you've got the gearbox in neutral...

Bit of a daft question but my son was given some used Lego in boxes from his older cousin and hes been building a few of the smaller sets. What I noticed is that its a lot more time consuming than when they are new and in the bags as you have fewer parts to search through. This wasn't really a huge problem for the small sets hes done so far but there are also a few larger sets (1000+ pieces) and I think there must be some way to systemic the build perhaps? His cousin also has the large death start which he has said my son can borrow to build which will definitely need a plan of attack!

He's just doing it hard mode now - the way it's meant to be done :D

Often people sort by colour or type of part however. Makes it a little easier.

I havent put the wheels on yet, but the grey hubs they attach to just seem to spin freely.. I'll have another look at it later, pretty sure i haven't done anything wrong as i have been following the instructions meticulously. It could be in neutral though as I haven't touched the gear stick.

Edit: It was indeed in neutral :o:D.

You donkey :p

Finished the Lepin Koenigsegg and overall very impressed, couple of minor issues with the instructions but nothing a little common sense can correct/workout. Probably been the most enjoyable build in some time due to how it differs from official Lego kits/style.

My wife got me poes xwing for Christmas, 700 odd pieces all into 1 box. Its the proper way of doing it (and im looking at the star destroyer for my next kit). My wife was disappointed that it only took me 3hours to build lol.

New Han Solo movie sets leaked. New MF looks terrible from a Lego and story perspective.

The new Star Wars Lego Sets look horrendous IMO. The new Technic sets look good, so guess my Lego funds this year are going on Technic. The challenge with Technic nowadays is to squeeze Power function motors into them, currently doing hat with set 42068. Trying to get RC steering working on that set is proving a challenge.
