** The Official OcUK Mechanical Keyboard Thread **

Yeah true.
How much time do you spend on Geekhack? I was slightly absorbed for a couple of days then got over it. In reality it's very silly. The chief protagonist may be very knowledgeable but comes across as real prat too.

Not that much, its more of a curiosity looking in on a community that exists purely for what seems like such a strange passion. That said there are lots of useful reviews and opinions there and if you're looking for advice you can do much worse than to ask those guys for help.

Who ever looks at them? Is it just for show?

Although I didn't go for coloured WASD keys on my board I can understand why people would want to if they like the look of it. I dont really ever look at my PC tower but its a beautiful Lian Li case. Design is a important part of everything we consume, even things youd assume were purely utilitarian - just look at the popularity of Apples products ;)

....

Yeah I thinks that's a fair appraisal.

Well I finally got my WASD keyboard and am typing on it now. Im very very happy with it, the build quality is just fantastic. The laser etched white keys look fantastic, Im looking forward to receiving the row 2 white keys that where out of stock when I ordered to complete the look. I've taken a few pictures, the crappy phone camera doesn't really do it justice but you get the idea if your looking to buy one.

The red switches are very light, I think gaming on these will be a pleasure. Typing on them will probably take a small amount of adjustment but its not that bad at all. All in all I'm very pleased with it and wouldn't hesitate to recommend one.

Well, looks like I'm not getting my keyoard after all.

Or not yet at least.

Despite having an email telling me my order was taken and compete and a preliminary tracking email from the shipping company, I've since had a follow up email saying that the one I want is out of stock. :(

So I can choose between getting a free upgrade to the MK-85 but not with the switches I want, a downgrade to the MK-50 with refunded difference but does come with the switches I want. Stick with the MK-80 but choose different switches. Wait until some unspecified time in March for new stock or get a full refund.

Bit peeved to be honest.

Well after having seen a few pictures of the keyboards with blank keysets I have decided to order a set as well. I love the look of just all black keys.

Welcome to the WASD Club ^^ :D

Would anyone recommend the Razer Black Widow normal version? I read the keyboard has a very noisy click sound when typing, but i like that. The price of it is pretty good, which makes it very tempting!
