** The Official OcUK Mechanical Keyboard Thread **

So my das keyboard arrived today and for some reason the h,c and v keys stop working in some programs randomly and they have to be restarted for them to work in them, no idea if its the keys because they work perfectly in other ones? Bit of a weird issue.

I am looking for a New Keyboard and I am thinking about going Mechanical. I don't do heavy gaming so I am maybe looking for a Mechanical keyboard that is aimed for general use? It would be nice to have it sorta quite also.

Hmm, that sounds like something wrong on the Das. Could try getting a replacement for it.

For a general use keyboard, MX Browns are very good! :) And if you want to quieten it down, there are O-ring dampeners available too.

Hey guys, thinking on getting a new keyboard. I currently have a Lycosa but looking to replace it with a mech one and keep the Lycosa as a backup. Initially I was planning on getting a Blackwidow but after seeing all the negative reviews I decided to look for something else.

I've done some research and I think brown switches would be best for me (I think).

But I'm preferably looking for something that is quiet as possible, full size board, backlit (blue if possible)

Based on my requirements above, here's what I've been able to find that comes closest:
- Qpad MK-80, Ducky DK-9008 Shine II, Logitech G710, Das Professional Model S.

Any help or other board suggestions much appreciated. Cheers :)

I decided to take the plunge and ordered a Noppoo Choc Mini (Red). It's arrived and I have to say it's fantastic, best computer upgrade since my SSD! :D

I've ordered a few mechanical keyboards which appear to have the US layout, but arrive and are the UK variant, which is understandable i guess, BUT i want the BIG SHIFT key on the left hand side for FPSs

I am i mad to order a keyboard from the US for this?

I ordered the blue ones, I found the sound they make soothing. :D

I would have gone for the cooler master ranges with backlight but they didn't do them in blue switches for the UK region. Also the Noppoo is the most compact board I could find, which was good for me as I have limited desk room.

I also hope it's US layout as I prefer larger shift keys. Hope I don't get stung by customs now. **fingers crossed**

5% import duty then 20% vat  but if it's what you want. i'm looking at getting a US WASD 87 V2 keyboard with custom keys for BF3 when they come out, roll on march

Ducky are going to be producing a lot more keyboards aimed at the ISO market, namely a 60% board. They already have a wide range of 105/87 boards out in the UK for a very good price (£100-115 for a backlit 87 key)

Still works out cheaper than a filco. Hopefully I won't get hit with a duty charge, I ordered from the cheapest place on ebay. Some who got the Catleap monitors never got hit with import charges too and that's a huge parcel that cost £225.
