Hi u folks

Im gonna b doing 5 AS levels in about 3 weeks time so some advice plz

1.Further Maths
2. Maths (on my own)
2. Chemistry
4. German
5. Physics

I get my gcse results on Thursday. I c some ppl here hav done further maths. However can anyone tell me how hard the normal maths is coz i dont hav any teacher to teach me it???? :(

BTw im not a **** all taking those subjects

I shud pretty easily get A*s in all those listed above (not doing Furhter maths). Ill let ya folks no my results on thursday.

can i ask sid, why you have to do maths on your own, and then further maths at college? that is a pretty strange set up. As for teaching yourself, if your good at maths then you wont have any problems at all A level maths is pretty easy.

If you've a real gift for Maths, even Further Maths won't be anything more than a formality.
Its not so much harder, as just more techniques. Things like Matrices. They aren't hard, but a topic that isn't taught (at least in WJEC Maths) in the single syllabus. Show it to someone who hasn't done them before and they don't mean diddley, but once you explain them they are simple.

5 A/s is a lot though. I did 4 because I didn't want to have lessons all the time. 6th form is fun because you can have an hour off in the school day to do something else (in my case homework which I never did at home, if I did it) or to just laze about. No Uni asks for more than 3 A levels and an A/s.

Of course if you are that hungry for knowledge, knock yourself out :)

C - Biology
D - Maths

Now this didn't get me into reading and a phonecall confirmed it however using the UCAS clearing option i got a placement in University of west england, bristol - which isn't brilliant but uni is about having fun right? So i advise everyone who didn't get into any of their uni's to go into clearing right now.

UWE isn't a bad uni, it is probably by far the best of the old pollys in this country, and better than a good few of the red brick ones, always seems to do fairly well is the dodgy league table thingys.

If you want some help finding your way around Brizzle, give me a shout as i am there too, but i have lived in Bristol my whole life.

really looking forward to it now :D

Well done to all that passed, and Unlucky to all those that failed.

Who was that that had the woeful maths a/s results, they were almost as bad as mine :D 14/120 and 16/120 :D

I dont no where the collage things comes here. But my school only allows u to do 4 AS levels max but since im doing further maths, the school says u cant do further maths without doing normal maths so i hav to study normal maths on my own. I was hoping that ther wud b a decent overlap between high end gcse maths and AS level maths. BTw i am going to drop further maths after AS and then continue with normal maths at A2. ( i no its a bit complicated.)

P.S. Sry about swearing. Didnt mean to!

Nice lot of grades there 2x1600!! One question though.. what on earth is Systems and Control?? Is it Engineering of some sort?

Never had anything like that when I did my GCSEs, 7 years ago (I feel so old now!)
