Does that mean she HAS to take the insurance option, or can she still apply through clearing?
We tried to look in all the bits of paper and books, but they aren't very helpful..
Thanks!
Yep you can still go through clearing.
When I got my results, got my required results for my 1st choice Coventry, and my insurance Northumbria. However due to various other things namely money I couldn't take up my place. So I had to go via Clearing.
Basically heres how you do it. You see where you want to go via clearing, phone thier admissions ask if they have a place, if they have then phone (not write or send forms back) UCAS, inform them that you are declining your 1st or insurance offer, they'll ask why, give them whatever reason. I actually had good reason but if you don't use personal issues and they should leave you alone. Also tell them that you intend to go via clearing, they should be pretty helpful. And should cancle your place on the insurance course and send out some forms. They also checked to see if there were places on the course I wanted to changed to for me. They'll also tell you what to do next. Basically you terminate your agreemnt with UCAS and go to clearing.
In my case I had to phone up the admissions of the two uni's I was turning down, and tell them and explain my circumstances and that I was declining their offers. It allows them to free up your reserved place to other students in Clearing.
Next I had to get back to Plymouth's admissions and sort my place out there, had a simple telephone interview and was accpeted there and then on to the course.
In total took less than 3 days to sort it all out. But best advice phone UCAS.
Hope this helps.
