**** The Official OnePlus 5 Thread ****

I just ordered an S8 from Amazon Italy, £506 all in, arriving Friday.

Was waiting for the OP5 but it seems a bit disappointing.
Was waiting for the OP5 too but feeling underwhelmed a bit. Started paying more attention to the S8 but don't want their OS and Samsung clearly doesn't want us unlocking bootlaoder. Holding out for Pixel 2 now, but will still keep an eye on OP5' progress.

I'm on o2 but it's dual sim so must be unlocked - no splash screen or anything - no network branding on it. It's sold as unlocked by o2 on their website.

Would be interested in getting 100% confirmation that this is network unlocked.

I tried to purchase from o2 earlier but got told by two different customer service representatives that it was 1, locked and 2 unlocked

Both me and the wife are on o2 so can't help you there. I'll maybe be able to get an EE sim tomorrow and try it. I'll let you know.

I was on the verge of buying it, until:

Smaller battery
Not lossless 20MP 2x zoom - it's 1.6x optical (this point is more principle - poor advertising)
No OIS - what?!
128GB for matte black
Even more expensive
Still poor customer service (though everyone is these days)

I personally like the design. Though I much prefer the 3T.

I'll skip this generation :(

Looks like I'll have no choice but to go back to Apple. Basic features like great cameras and good battery seem too hard to come by on Android phones these days (Excluding stupid curved screens).

Here's some interesting info: Samsung just tried to charge me for repairing my S7 Edge's broken home and volume buttons after they sent it back that way from a screen repair (i.e. - they repaired the screen, sent the phone back with faulty buttons and are trying to make me pay to have it fixed!!)

Yeah stick to iPhone mate, seems best for your needs.

Mine's currently at Gatwick.

Certainly had a journey. China to Poland, Germany, Luton, Gatwick. Then finally London.

In other news the Audio out has been reviewed by Pocketnow. Good DAC and a stronger headphone amp than most phones.

Been keeping an eye out for this phone, however going by the reports and reviews it's not really a lot to shout out about sadly. I've currently got the OP3 and had it since November, it's been an awesome phone apart from a couple of recent new bugs but I imagine that is down to the latest updates.

I was tempted to go for the OP5 in a couple of months but at this rate I may just stick to the 3 or at best, go for the 3T when it comes down further in price as the year goes on.

Liam.

The reviews i've seen are strange. They seem to praise the phone on the most then conclude they hate it? Slight exaggeration. I have however seen a couple of positive reviews where people review it for what it is, a cheaper phone trying to pinch some of the flag ship market.

Thinking i'll jump from nexus 5x onto this. Hopefully o2 will have instore stock next week when i'm in the position to impulse buy it.

I'm sticking with my OP3 for now. Going to wait to see what phones come out later this year. Nokia 9 has me really interested.

Reviews are confusing as they seem o keep referring to the OnePlus 5 as cheaper and basing the conclusion largely around that, I'm guessing most of them are from the US because here it's not good value in Europe at all, why would anyone buy a OnePlus 5 over a Galaxy S8 for a same money? Crazy.
