**** The Official OnePlus 5 Thread ****

The OP3T never included much over the original OP3, the OP3 was not obsolete. But how is that any different from Samsung phones like the Galaxy S and Note series?

The change to the OP5T is a little more obvious due to the display but otherwise I doubt there will be much difference.
Galaxy/Note comes out every year, there's a new OP every 6 month. I'm not even sure how they manage to keep up with that business model.

So what? they're both flagships being launched by Samsung every 6 months or so, the same applies.

Is it worth buying a Note 8 when the Galaxy S9 and S9+ will be launched early next year? Was it worth buying a Galaxy S8+ with the Note 8 recently launched? Seems the same to me. Not a whole lot of difference between them anymore.

So what's left to reveal today about the OP5T other than the price?
I'm sure they'll make a big deal about the "portrait" feature like has been seen with the Pixel2 and latest iPhones.

Having second thoughts about bothering with this to be honest unless I manage to get a good price trying to sell on my existing OP5.

What makes them obsolete after 6 months,. I am still using a plus 3 and very happy, feel no need to upgrade. People always seem to want the latest and greatest when what they already have will do the job just fine.

The fact they stop supporting the older device. Remember the OnePlus X? OnePlus 2?

It kills the premium perception of a brand. Sony make great devices, but their short life cycle means they're undesirable after short amounts of time. Not because they're obsolete, because Sony make them feel like they are.

Could you imagine if Apple did the same thing?

They were total flops, I'm not surprised they stopped supporting them. They have to prioritize between two devices which didn't sell well and the newer devices which sold like hotcakes in comparison.

It's not worth them continuing to support a dead horse, as much as OP2 and X users might hate that, it's the truth, they never had the resources and probably still don't even though they claim to have streamlined the process since the OP3.

Uodates have been steady and frequent for the past year and half. Can't see any major issues with software updates.

Oneplus have obviously learnt the importance of updates otherwise they would have left the OP3 behind by now.

I'm quite keen to see what they come up with. My nexus 5x is on its last legs and this seems like it could be a worthy candidate especially if the price rumours hold true and the 64gb model stays at £449. I was already tempted by the 5, so the 5T at the same price even if they have only tinkered with a few specs should be good enough.

Might get one with my 10% student discount to see how it stacks up against my iPhone. I would like a dual sim for work/personal use and a large AMOLED screen, for 400 after discount it's certainly something I would like to investigate. No wireless charging though, but dash charge instead, hmmmmmm.
