*** The Official OS X Mountain Lion 10.8 Thread ***

Sorry to ask more daft questions, but I just got a new MBPr, but Mountain Lion shows that I need to pay for it?

go to apple.com/osx/uptodate and fill in the form.

then when you get the redeem code, try it, but otherwise wait up to 24 hours for it to be reissued.

I just spoken with apple support who told me that all redeem codes are being reissued within the next 24 hours. No need to call support to request it.

Thanks blastman!
I'm assuming that because I have another MBP, bought mid 2010, I have "the right to copy"? And the number of qualifying systems would be 2 (2 MBPs) ?

So ML is installed here are my initial thoughts:

* Dictation is fantastic - works well has excellent voice recognition, just a shame its a bit clunky in the interface
* Safari is fast! The new safari runs really well and I love the new tabs system, great to be able to scroll through the tabs quickly and easily - can't seem to get the tabs on other devices working though, is that iOS 6 only?
* Notification system works nicely, I also quite like the gesture to slide it open, interestingly it uses the aluminium at the side of the trackpad - I don't know how that works with a blutooth trackpad?

Anyway liking it, its running nice and fast!

Dr Delphi, upgrade or clean install? wondering what route I should take, as my install is pretty nippy as it is. Even though I've done upgrades since Snow Leopard.

from apples site;

To qualify for the Up-To-Date Program, please enter the following information.

If you are an Enterprise, Education Institution, or Government customer and you have purchased 20 or more qualifying systems, you can receive a Right to Copy license.

that'll be a no then :)

I don't think there are sensors at the side of the trackpad, so it must just sense you sliding in from the side.

I did an upgrade, I haven't reinstalled since I put the SSD last summer (pre Lion if I remember correctly). I will probably do a total wipe when I get around to removing the 500GB of PhD work from my machine though!

I've realised this, but just trying to slide from the side of the trackpad won't bring it up, it might be looking for a certain speed when starting tracking.

Ah, screw it. I'm going for it. :D

Hmm. I had 1 minute left on the installation timer, and now its jumped to 20 minutes. Is this normal?

Ahh yes, I see, thanks. Hour and a half to go :(

I've decided it's time for a new keyboard. There's nothing wrong with the one I'm using except for the fact that it's well over four years old. It's the one I bought before I got my Mac Pro!

I never switched to the one which was shipped with my iMac and therefore has the slightly different 'Lion' keys.

How do i burn an iso with disk utility? its driving me insane, i've done it like you normally would buts not working. I lost my disks for snow leopard so ive downloaded an iso from a torrent site. Its seems a legit copy and everything, everytime i burn it and open up the newly burnt osx dvd, it just tells me to burn it to dvd. So annoying!

Lion is downloading as well for me now - woop!
