*** The Official OS X Mountain Lion 10.8 Thread ***

Still not impressed by iMessages. I know we have to wait for iOS6 before our phone numbers and emails are unified for the system but it is an unreliable pos from my experiences.

It takes a full 10-20mins for an iMessage to actually appear (notification centre) on my uMacBook and the whole experience is just finicky and non-apple like.

Experiences with ML overall have been quite good though. I just need to keep an eye out on system temps and fan speeds to make sure they aren't being hit too hard.

Yep totally with you on that - iMessages still need a lot work :(

I'm hoping it will improve when iOS 6 is released with the unified contact details...

Ok so why is everyone saying to write this onto a DVD or Memory stick? Does it not just run from app store? My air don't have a dvd drive and I am not sure I have a spare empty stick around

Messages was very hit and miss between my iMac, my iPhone, my iPad, my daughters iPhone and the family iMac but once we'd got all our email addresses configured on each device then it now works perfectly.

I can now type a message on any of my devices to her and it appears on all mine and all hers and she can do the same back. No delays, all devices see both sides of the conversation within a couple of seconds of it being sent.

I did a fresh install from an SD card in the end last night after realising I would need a dual-layered DVD, much quicker from the SD card though so that worked in my favour. :)

It seems pretty decent and snappy so far, took an age to transfer my iPhoto and iTunes libraries back to my hard drive though.

Guys,

Sorry if it has already been answered...bought my iMac less than a month ago, how can I upgrade to ML? I looked on the app store and it wanted to charge me a whole THIRTEEN pounds for it. Robbing bar stewards :p

So, how does one upgrade?
Ta!

I've had a few Finder crashes over the last 2 days.. more than I've had in the last 12 months :(

I imagine this was all happening using the same wifi network?

Messaging between friends is the problem I'm mostly having - I started a convo on my mac but had to continue on my iPhone because my iPhone and iPad picked up their replies waaaay before the mac (Infact the mac still hasn't picked up the full convo) :(

When is iLife 12 or 13 due since it's normally August onwards it arrives? is it worth it to purchase iLife 11 now, or wait out for the new iLife?

You can either request your redeem code to get a free copy at: uptodate.apple.com

Or just pay the £13 if you don't want to wait.

You then have the choice of simply running the installer and doing an upgrade or burning the .dmg file to disk and doing a clean install.

Initially, yes although the iMacs are hard-wired to the router. We then disabled wi-fi on both the iPhones and it didn't make any difference.

Hey Guys,

Upgraded this morning to Mountain Lion.

Now no exchange mail is working??

I can receive now mails but they do not stay there for long, they vanish somewhere..... and it will not sync any previous emails at all? Icloud works but that is it.

Also in the Console every 2 seconds I am getting tonnes! of these :

27/07/2012 14:10:43.627 sandboxd[415]: ([397]) Mail(397) deny file-read-data /Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist

Any ideas?

To anyone who has it installed, is it noticeably faster/quicker/smoother? I have literally zero interest in any of the new features and will only pay if I am going to get some performance boost.

Think of it as Snow Leopard for Lion. Get it done! :)
