The official Philips BDM4065UC thread

Could someone who owns the monitor explain how easy it is to switch input sources, if you have two inputs setup (e.g. 1 HDMI and 1 DP). Can you setup a shortcut using the button at the back to switch quickly between the two inputs?

you can setup shortcut ( press down on stick is the one that you set up ) to be video source or audio source ( default as audio)

after set it up,
- press down the stick make the menu of video sources listing pop up then you move stick to select that source and press ' right '

so its about 2-3 times pressing

Baddass, did you ever get a chance to look at the issue I detailed here?

No worries if not. Was only trying to gauge if this was an issue with all of them or some.

Also, was playing around with scaling and the 1:1 setting. Seems like it is a bit odd in this regard. Set at 1:1 when source is 1080p, it displays as you would expect with a small 1080p screen in middle.

It looks like anything higher, it sometimes ignores the 1:1. For example, 2560x1440 /3840x1634 it scales to full screen, but only sometimes... in Dragon Age Inquisition, it did the stretching/scaling thing, but in Elite Dangerous, it displayed fine in widescreen.

Wondering if this is a screen thing, game thing, or nvidia thing... Don't really have time to test a great many more things. Maybe will do a quickie in Alien Isolation later.

i'm sorry, i never had chance to test that again i'm afraid. it was all packaged up and i've just been too busy to unpack it all again before it had to be sent back to Philips :(

I mine set up like this already, but it doesn't work very well. The inputs are usually non-selectable, so I have to go into the main menu, and select my input from there.

Is rather annoying, but as I type this, I am wondering if it has to do with me disabling auto input detection... will have to check that.

Put a webnote in a couple of days ago requesting an update, they said they would get Gibbo to post here, so best guess at the minute is end of Jan some time, But they don't know for sure at the minute.

dont hold ur breath I'm afraid.

there doesn't seem to be any stock anywhere in europe except for italy.

With the first batch not on the streets yet, no fixed date for the HDMI 2.0 / DP 1.2 version, and being more expensive than the Philips puts me off considering one.

That said, the very muted launch and dribble of stock coming from Philips is a worry.

Who would even bother with the first version if the updated one will come with newer connections shortly after? it seems a little pointless to release the first run

Really tempted to order one of these, but since I'm only running one GTX970 so 4K gaming on most recent games will be out of the question, how do 1080p games scale on it as well as movies and TV shows? Cheers!

1080p scales fine, but personally I'd be running this panel @ 1440p as a minimum (which looks excellent too imho). You should be fine @ 1440p on a single 970.

Awesome! Trying to decide between this and the Asus VN279QLB, bit of a difference I know but its low input lag is really tempting, I did used to use a Samsung TV which had 46ms of input lag which I didn't mind at all really but now that I've been using a TV with 15ms I'm thinking might be harder to go higher unless the input lag at 24ms is practically undetectable?

Unless you're a competitive gamer it's a no brainer. This is a stunning panel.

So, the answer is buy both? ;)

This honestly seems like an outstanding price for what you get, 40" 4K panel with excellent response times for a VA panel, even the BenQ 32" 4K is £700 :\

I think 32" is still too small for 4K screens. When using MS Windows with scaling there are so many apps that simply don't work. 40" will give similar pixel density as 1440p so no scaling required. Of course the physical size of the monitor may be restrictive.

Same question i had in my mind. It is good to know that there will be another 4k 40 inch monitor and good that it has hdmi 2 (the second iteration lol)

Yeah I keep reading 32" and under is too small for 4K.

Yeah, I made a booboo on the shortcut thing. I had set it up before, but then reset to defaults and not set it up again.

So yeah, changing inputs easy. Unlike the 34um95... Stupid LG.

Was using it today watching a movie :)

One of the best purchases of 2014 for me. Still in awe at some games at 4K. Its true I have to lower the AA on some titles but it still looks stunning.

You won't regret it
