The official Philips BDM4065UC thread

For all those waiting, hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Despite struggling with the game, Elite Dangerous is beautiful on this in either 21:9 or 16:9 (nice because its BIGGER!!!) with a flight stick, and sitting relatively close (for the size). It's like you are there in space :D

Now if only I could get used to all the actual gameplay aspects of the game!

Have you tried Elite: Dangerous with an Oculus Rift ? I must say, for immersion it can't be beaten.

Do you have a HOTAS ?

When OCR gets a proper commercial release, I will give it a go. I imagine it will be fantastic. Hopefully won't make me feel sick.

Currently using X52 pro with it.

I got one of these monitors and am loving it. I was going to hold out for Freesync 4K but just decided to forget that for now. I tried Gsync and while it is nice it is not must have.

I am using a single GTX980 and am finding that the games I play are running great with some (IMHO) minor compromises.

No DoF
No motion Blur
Bloom on low
Lens flare off
Shadow on high rather than Ultra for example.

The size of this monitor actually made me dizzy for the few few days of use. I am used to it now and no Windows scaling required that blurs all the text.

Excellent monitor for gaming and movies. Very impressed so far.

Yeah, been a couple of times in combat in Elite where would make my head spin a little :)

As for size, it's normal to me now. 27 inch just looks tiny and insignificant now :D

After over 1 week using this monitor I can say it is absolutely brilliant. Great colours, more than decent response times for non-competive gaming and the perfect size for 4k. No scaling required for windows use. It also works great in super widescreen if I need more FPS for gaming.

I'm currently being tempted by this, just trying to resist until an equivalent Freesync model becomes available :D

I have to ask, what program/s do you use to run in 16:9?

cheers

Si

I assume you mean 21:9?

No need to run any 3rd party programs. I just added it as a custom resolution and all games have it listed in their res list. I use 3840x1600 and at this size and rest it's actually a larger screen area than a dedicated 34" widescreen

Cheers mate, and yes I meant 21:9 :D

This is such a cool monitor and I was going to wait but plumped for the Acer instead which is a Damn good monitor for the price.

I do probably have good graphical power for 4k too, at least for most games. Tell me, does it scale down to 1440p well? For those more demanding games

Hi, how would i use my sony str-dn1040 amplifier with this monitor to get sound, would i need a adapter or a sound card?

Use the Optical link from your soundcard ( if you have one ). Also soundcard needs to support the convert to Dolby Digital or DTS otherwise your sound will be stereo.

Its how i use my amp.

It scales fine to 1440 in those very demanding games.
