The official Philips BDM4065UC thread

Found another 'problem' with this monitor, it wouldn't charge my phone when I plugged it into any USB port on the back, admittedly I haven't plugged in a cable from the PC, but still. I want my cake and eat it!

Well, had one of these on order from a uk retailer who shall remain nameless but begin with s, who have announced last minute that they can't fulfill my order - hopefully I'll have more luck here, but so far I've already made a hash of things!

Personally I'm more than happy to pay extra not to have to wait 10 weeks ;)

Been looking at this display for quite a while now, so very much looking forward to it - MST on the 32" Dell is driving me nuts!

mine is actually getting worse and when I watch a film with black bars it looks like a flash light is shinny through the top of the screen and bad in bottom left ..It's also off putting with pure black images ..as it's very blotchy and cloudy . I'm now just thinking of getting refund then getting a 40in 4K tv and then replace my 1440p asus ips Monitor for a 144hz gaming monitor but want at least 32in for gaming at 1440p 144hz gsync .
thats weird. on mine it's perfect deep black all over. and when I watch a film with black bars look perfect deep black, even viewing at a angie..

maybe u have a faulty one...

if your in to gaming then don't get a 4k tv, the lag will be much higher...

i tried that with my s5 and it works fine. even tried charging my backup battery and that works, i haven't plugged in the usb cable from the PC to the monitor...

make sure u connect you phone to the fast charge usb port.

I've been eyeing this monitor for a while now, due to it's size & price.

Couple of questions for the owners if you could answer them please!

1. What's this like for gaming? especially the response time very good, i feel no lag

2. To get 4k 60hz you have to use a displayport? so with HDMI is it limited to 30hz and for 1080p 60hz is it HDMI too? yes u need a DP 1.2 port for 4k at 60hz, hdmi only gives 4k at 30hz, but 1080p/1440p at 60hz..

3. I'm looking to get a 290x, I know it can handle some games at 4k and most games 1440p and obviously everything at 1080. So what is gaming like when the resolution is @ 1080p/1440p for gaming, does this monitor scale well at those resolutions? (this is the most important factor for me) it scales really well at 1080p/1440p.

Cheers

While I do love my screen I find that it suffers a fair bit from discolouration around contrasting areas. See this pic, notice how the scrollbar strip on the browser window causes a lightened vertical strip above the window.

This is what i have along with my cloudy blotches and bad bleed but my lines are much more visible .

also smart control fails to work on my computer it never ever loads it says its stopped working every time i load it .

Wish i never bought it .

Sounds like you have a duff monitor.

I have zero clouding or backlight bleed.

I do have that "issue" where a solid colour block can offset clours above and below, but after calibrating, it's hardly noticeable - and I actually have to go looking for it.

and that's where I got it from , I used the drivers on the disc and then the link you sent and smart control still won't work .it's just stops working after about 45 seconds trying to load .

Also, when I had nvidia cards (970's in SLI), i had the same issue with the software crashing.

Works on AMD though - not that I actually use it...

Yesterday I tried all 4 ports, none worked. Today, it is working with the fast charge port only. I also tried my backup battery today, and that charges from all 4. Sony have very fussy phones....
Cheers for the info, I would have given up!

not matter what i do this keeps crashing . what a waste of money this monitor is ..i feel sick ..i waited 4 months for this monitor and and its worst thing i have ever bought !!! keeps crashing my computer too . BSOD after BSOD ..cant even play a game in 4k without crashing ..and its not the graphics cards or drivers as they dont even break a sweat in some games .

Uh, to be honest, it probably is. I've not heard of a monitor causing a BSOD on a PC unless it's the graphics driver bombing out, or some dodgy utility software the monitor might come with. If your PC's not stable running a 4K display, it's the PC that probably wants looking at, not the display.

The phone charge issues don't really concern me, as apart from the fact I'm unlikely to use that feature, phones not accepting charge from certain USB ports is a very common issue that affects all sorts of perfectly functional devices. If nothing charged from it at all, that'd be another story.

Mine looks like it's due Monday so I'll have a very pretty close eye on these issues once it arrives - I'm pretty fussy about random little things not working, which is the reason why I'm hopefully going to replace my UP3214Q with it - MST just makes graphics drivers go nuts, on both AMD and nvidia's side.

the monitor won't be causing the BSOD, if your getting BSOD's now you will get them on any other 4k monitor..

i suggest doing a reinstall of windows.

I have to fully agree - no monitor crashes pcs....

Must be soemthing to do with drivers/hardware and the 4k is stressing the PC more.

A 4 grand pc crashing ..nope its the dodgy software that came with the monitor , even downloaded it separately and still crashes the pc , 3 x GTX980's , 5960x , 16gb 2400mhz DDR4 ram 1TB samsung 850 Evo .. already instaled windows twice and still does it .

Yes but you've not mentioned the multitude of problems you've already had with that Alienware p.o.s. !!

I'd put money on it being the system, as stated by *numerous* people in the know it simply can't be the monitor!!

Send it back, try something else tbh as you're obviously not happy with it.

edit - I will say this, I do feel sorry for you as you seem to have *zero* luck with computers!! :(
