The white DS3 is coming out in the US in June/July, other wise some of the asia based sites will ship to the UK (check first) the have silver and white DS3s. I Cant give you the sites names but have a search on google im sure you'll find them.
 
Looking at swapping out the HD in my PS3 (40GB) with a larger one. I looked up the spec of the current one which is a Seagate 5400RPM 2MB cache drive. Obviously they all have more cache now and you can get 7200RPM drives - are they worth the extra? The PS3 HD seems to be on quite a bit on the games I play (GT5, Killzone 2, Wipeout HD etc), or is the fact it is a newer drive (so generally quicker) should help a bit over the 40GB one?

No difference really.

Get the biggest cheapest 5400RPM drive you can afford.
 
Just had a quick look at the OP but I can't see anything about it:

Bought a PS3 today, have never looked at them before so no idea what it can/can't do!

Can I stream media wirelessly ie MP4/MKV/ISO from my mac? Do I need software for this as for my 360 I used Connect360 so no idea about PS3!

If I want to download a demo do I have to search for the game name or is there a list of demos in the PS Store? Looked before but unless I'm blind I couldn't see a "Demos" link.

Pretty much just started using my PS3 online properly, add me can usually catch me on FIFA or something. PSD - decmatt

The company that do Connect360 (Nullriver) also make MediaLink which is the PS3 equivalent. Not used it for ages tbh but it worked. A lot of people here recommend this PS3 media server google code Java thing: http://ps3mediaserver.googlecode.com/

I just downloaded it on my Mac. Didn't work as it kept trying to run the server on some VMware network adaptor it found n my MAC. Changed it to have my current IP address and it found my PS3 and the Server appeared in XMB.

You can browse your whole systems files like in Finder. Very easy to use.
Only used it once for a few files but was reasonably impressed.

Does anyone know how to get the best out of watching HD videos on the PS3?

I just hooked it up to a HD TV and downloaded a free HD 1080i trailer and it doesn't look any different from standard resolution? I downloaded Iron Man.

The PS3 is in the 1080i resolution so I'm a bit confused? Any settings you need to change?
 
Any chance the console forum thread could be split in to PS3, xBOX, PSP, DSi etc rather than all being under one roof?

Can't seem to get bbci player to work :( previews and listings there just no play option..it's a UK console am i missing something :confused:

Forums getting too segmented to generate enough individual hits leads to death, seen it happen too many times.
 
Can any of u post or send me a link to usb sound card for PS3? I will connect it to a Zalman ZM-MIC1 mic(is that a good set?). Not expensive, no more than £25 for mic+card. If u have any other solution for me plz share.

Ouch!

you can purchase a new laser for around £50 and attempt a repair job yourself

my 40gb died about a year ago and I ended up buying a slim but I will fix it one day
 
My mate has offered me his 60gb with 5 games for £135 so i might go for that and flog mine, i'm sure somebody will need some spare parts.
