*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

so even if it is £425 you would refuse to buy?

you do know there is a launch console tax? as in the price at launch is usually overpriced for everything, console, controllers and games, etc.

wait 6-12 months and it will be easily £100+ cheaper for a bundle of say console plus an extra controller and 2 games.

Yeah I'll just wait it out if its any more.

£400 is the top end I'd be happy to pay so therefore I won't bother. We will just wait and see.

Also £400 is more than 20‰ less, more like 33%.

£300 = instant, day 1 must-buy.

£400 = grudging day 1 buy, whilst muttering under breath

£500 = I'll wait for price reductions, and pray that MGS5 is released on PC.

£600 = Buy an XBox out of spite.

£400 for the price of the console is the max some of you will pay? Is that just for the console or are you wanting 2 games as well? :p

My 360 cost me £300 and came with 4 games. (Oblivion, Gears, CoD3, and Project Gotham Racing)

If the PS4 is going to cost £400, it had better come with at least two AAA games. I'd accept MGS5 as one of them :p

Placeholder price people, stop being so over dramatic, it's the same for Xbox One.

I swear hearing new console news is like taking speed for some people.

Were just talking about what we would all think as being a reasonable price.

I don't think anyone is being dramatic.

Absolutely bonkers..... I just couldnt bring myself to spending that much on a console. I'd sooner wait for the price to drop a little.

ORLY?

you do know consoles are usually sold below cost price. so even at £400 they will be making a loss on them, there is no way they are then going to be giving away another £100 on top to everyone.

£400 for a quality piece of hardware is literally nothing.

What i dont get is people are happy to spend hundreds on the latest Iphone that does nothing more than the last, yet moan about the price of something that has been improved, does stuff new and doesnt need to be updated every 6/12 months to have the latest.

Did Sony say they were bundling the PlayStation Eye with the PS4? Or is it not known yet?

Hope not. The less they include that could end up bumping up the launch price the better.

I've not heard anything about it. Hopefully it won't as it will be a feature I probably won't use that will just add more costs to it unnecessarily IMO.

I think it will come bundled with the PS4. Why else would all the controllers come "move" compatible. Also, if it comes bundled, then the devs know all PS4s will have "move" and make more and better use.

Sony will learn from the 1st move addon. Not many bothered to get it, thus devs couldn't use it much.

I want to see the cameras come with the PS4.

Whether that's 'true' or not, I think you're mistaken if you think many people are going to consider £400 as 'nothing'.

This isn't the Graphics Card sub-forum, we don't all wipe ourselves with £50 notes :p

£300 - £350 is the sweet spot both the XBox and PS4 should be aiming at.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but this generation costs are down. They are both using low-cost AMD SOCs. Blu-ray drives are vastly cheaper today.

it seems to be the mentality on here, people are willing to spend £400 on a graphics card, phone, coffee grinder, slr, air rifle, etc but not on a console.

people have been complaining constantly for the past 6 months about the price.

it's something which is going to last 5-10 years, therefore £40-80 a year overall, yet they are happy to pay £30+ a year for xbox live, completely stupid imo.
